Hi everyone!
This is about which buses are named individually, not the route, and not relating to numbers or manufracturer.

For example there's:
Lolly & Splash the "seasiders" which run the 17 service in Cleethorpes.
Charlie, Boomer, Jojo, & Ozzy which run the Humber Flyer service.

The name is written on all of these buses.
For the purpose of this thread, UK buses in regular passenger service only.
Can you help find them all?
Thanks

Probably now retired, but I think I remember that the reverse-livery (white with a red band) Devon General open-toppers that worked the sea-front route around Torbay (Leyland Atlanteans?) used to carry the names of sea-dogs such as Sir Francis Drake, Raleigh, Howe etc.
Happy days: holidays at grandma's!
Sadly Wikipedia says they have all been withdrawn.

The original Jurassic Coast vehicles were named after things on or related to the Jurassic coast.

Large amounts of trentbarton and a couple of sister TM Travel's fleet is named.

First South Yorkshire also has the following buses named, according to my fleetlist:
37230 (Doncaster Corporation livery) - Phil Wilson
37231 (Rotherham Corporation livery) - Peter Drury
37233 - St Leger
37235 - Avro Vulcan XH558
63002 - Derek Russell
63027 - Phil White

Every Thamesdown bus is named, mostly copying names from GWR engines built at Swindon Works.

The Devon General Atlanteans did have Sea Dog names plus the later open top VRs were also named but after warships. The tradition was resurrected when the later open top Scanias arrived with Stagecoach and then on closed top Tridents https://www.flickr.com/photos/86156...95s-nxPJg5-q7RaB4-eG3Auh-rsKJew-9RqGDh-dvewxf

Greyhound named their coaches (so some may survive so named). First West Yorkshire have named some of their vehicles, usually to mark the passing of a member of staff. NXWM also have some of their e400s named IIRC

Almost, but not quite: the Citaros are anonymous (and have always been I think) and the new StreetDecks have yet to be christened (except for 807 - Chris Cooke)

Forgot about the Citaros and didn't even know they'd had a new batch of Streetdecks, which, may I point out, are the ugliest things I've ever seen. They should have been the same batch as 921-944.

The Streetdecks were the first production ones (predating the Bristol ones). EDIT: sorry - you did say the new Streetdecks.

The livery doesn't do them any favours but the First livery (and variations) seems to suit it better. Anyhow, that's well off topic!!

Back to named buses and here's another notable one plus the story to go behind it https://www.flickr.com/photos/35869448@N05/24976936955/in/photolist-ddNBzA-ppK13X-bopTtF-E48kb4

Also, GTL (Glenvale) used to name their (antiquated) vehicles with the names being suggested by drivers (?)

Yes and one of the holiday visitors was allegedly heard to remark "that bus says Sir Francis Drake was a Devon General - and I'd always thought he was a naval man."

A fair few (all?) of First's hybrids in Leeds are named - not sure of the full list of names though, sorry. I think some that don't have names might have been having them added as they're being repainted at the moment.

Arriva Cymru had a batch of Solos named after rugby players.

Arriva Merseyside had a vehicle named after an employee - can't recall the details.

Shamrock & Rambler (ah, happy memories) named all their coaches.

Crosville named some of their later open-toppers after castles.

National Express West Midlands have named some of their buses, mostly Enviro200s and Enviro400s from what I can remember.

All of 850-854, 861-870, 2201-2250, 3301, 4447-4474, 4507-4534, 4635-4679, 4738-4775, 4799-4995, 5401-5421, 5501-5518, 6101-6148, 6701-6758 & I suspect the impending arrival of 3302-3305 & the next batch of Platinum E400MMCs are or at least will be named, there are a few vehicles that have name plaques in the Pensnett & Birmingham Central fleet as well, which are 2093, 2151 & 2152 (?), I think the plan is now anything that is branded will get named, makes sense I suppose.

Posted the link earlier in this thread - was a Liverbus machine that was named after an employee who died tragically young

Dartline in Exeter has named most if not all of it's fleet.

And who can forget Stagecoach Devon's Elite i named 'Archie' after a Victoria Coach Station controller.

Arriva Leicester have named a streetlight after King Richard iii.
Sanders in Norfolk certainly used to give all of their double deckers names, but I haven't been in the area for a few years so don't know if this is still the case.

Newport Bus have six of their fleet decorated with graphic wraps to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of WW1.

Five of their Scania OmniCity single-deckers have a 'We will remember them' poppy wrap on the rear, and each bus is named after individual soldiers who were Corporation Bus employees:
•Rifleman Walter John Williams (Vehicle YN07 VCL)
•Rifleman Edward James Bailey (Vehicle YN53 GGY)
•Private John Nicholas Murray (Vehicle YN53 GGY)
•Private Albert Edward Passmore (Vehicle YT11 LUJ)
•Lance Corporal C Jones (Unidentified bus)

The Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 307 registration number YX61 DVT has an entire vehicle wrap - including windows, showing poppies and WW1 soldiers.

More in this link: https://newporttransport.worldsecuresystems.com/media/WWI-We-will-remember-them

I've seen four out of the five "named" buses and the "fully wrapped" bus, but I'm still looking for Private Albert Edward Passmore (Vehicle YT11 LUJ).
