I wonder when that came out, I was only looking two days ago at their site but didn't notice it.

Strange Thameslink are looking for Trainee drivers when GTR have a talent pool full of applicants?

Anyone on here applied for this? Twedds, ,BobbyBox? I'm just in the middle of doing my application now! 72 hours isn't that long! I see they're advertising for qualified too.... Wonder how many Dartford and Slade Green drivers might apply.... :-/

Just applied myself, torturous. "Give an example of this give an example of that" :D
One point though, it asks if you have ever undergone a psychometric test, if so where?
Is this the train driver assessment, ie bourdon test etc or something completely different?
I put yes because i've already sat and passed the drivers assessment, am now thinking i'm wrong! :(

Need2 you are indeed correct. The psychometric assessment is the train driver assessments. Should you pass the initial sift, you shouldn't have to resit the tests you've already passed.

Thanks mate, looks like I've done something right! Now the wait...........

Just another point, can you apply for more than 1 drivers job with different TOC's at the same time?

There's nothing in place that will prohibit you from doing so. I've seen members on here post how they've had multiple applications going on at the same time. Makes sense IMO given how popular train driver jobs are and how slow railway recruitment can be at times. Got to take all the chances you get...

Taken from the job description.

Please note you are not eligible to apply for this role if you have taken a Trainee Train Driver assessment within the last six months, or if you have already failed any element of the trainee train driver assessment twice at any time in the past

I notice that the application states the closing time for it is 12pm. Do I take that to be lunch time or at midnight? Any help appreciated. Will phone up but wondered if anyone may know in advance, thanks

I took the assessment with Southeastern in June last year but my DMI in March just gone and am on hold so hopefully I'll be ok? It also says you can't apply if you've applied for this role within the past 6 months, I'm sure that should say you can't apply if you've applied for GTR in the past 6 months shouldn't it?

Paul076.... 12pm is lunchtime

Does anybody know what's happening at Gillingham depot? I mean, Gillingham is a Southeastern depot. I know that in the past Southeastern gave some metro routes to Thameslink, but I can't understand what GTR is now doing at Gillingham depot.

Thanks in advance.

It's going to be a shared depot with TL taking work from se.

Put mine in Friday evening??????, be prepared for a long wait though folks, I'm still waiting on a date for DMI for the London depots job from December, even though I've passed the sift and Passed Assessments with another TOC last year.

I'm with cwjohnstone on this, surely they mean with GTR. Why could you not apply if you have taken the assessments within the last 6 months, the assessments lasts 3 years with most TOC's, dont they?
Did my assessments and MMI with Southeastern in Feb 2015

Sorry I'm all new to the wonderful life of railway recruitment. Is there generally any particular length of time it takes to here if your application has been successful.

The TOC can set whatever recruitment criteria it wants. If you have already applied with GTR in the last 6 months then your application would still be on file and possibly still in progress. It would make perfect sense for existing applicants not to be applying. You would then have two applications with the same TOC, for the same position but for different locations. The very nature of the internal process allows for a general application but the ability to change locations. Just look through the "talent pool" thread about people who applied for one location but got offered a different one. I personally know many Trainees/Drivers who had their location changed to get the job.

Makes perfect sense to me that its for any TOC. It would also stop applicants applying purely for the assessment pass.

Many people fail the initial sift. One of the biggest reasons for that is that they don't meet the basic criteria set out in the job description.

I applied last year for a position that closed 1st of October and didn't hear anything till mid November! Fortunately it was an invitation to attend an assessment day. Sit tight and good luck

Good luck to all.

It's certainly true that these applications take some time - mine did and came along when I'd all but forgotten about it.

But.. you've gotta be in it to win it! :D
