Hello - hoping for a bit of advice. I'm going to be communting from Colchester to Liverpool Street and really need a tray table so I can do some work. I know the intercity trains have tables but do the others. I might travel first class so if anyone has info about that too it would be really appreciated!

Only the Norwich - Liverpool Street trains have tables (in both First and Standard). The rest don't have full tables, even in First Class.

Some London-Norwich trains call at Colchester so you will definitely get a table on there whichever class you travel. Class 360s have a table in First Class, so if you are desperately needing a table, look on Realtime Trains to see which services are diagramed as a Class 360 then buy a ticket for whatever time that is.

Note: If you are new to RTT then simply add in your station, preferred time. Once you've submitted, click on a service (select the ID associated with the service) which suits you best and it should show you the list of calls that service does. At the top of the page you will see the service details. Class 360s are usually put down as EMU 100mph should the class not be specified :)

Not a full table though, unless that has been changed in the latest refresh?

Just a half table which is enough, although the curved edge doesn't do any favours. Abellio's refurbishment of their fleet only covers the seats, thus the tables are the same on all units. It's enough to work on though.

Fair enough. But it still isn't nearly as economic, practical or comfortable as a Mk3 table in Standard. Norwich services are also normally faster.

Gives him/her flexibility at the very least. 2/3 of the trains will either be 360s or Mk3s.

If you want to work on the train in the morning, be careful which Norwich train you chose. You may not get a seat, never mind a table. Easier on the return journey, just have to get to Liverpool St a bit before departure time.

Unless a few minutes are vital to you, the journey time on a 360 is not that much slower, and you'll get more work done ;)
