Hello chaps,

If I buy a cheap day return to Milton Keynes on the Highspeed from Ebbsfleet International with a Network Railcard (c. £22) am I allowed to go via Stratford and Liverpool Street - BREAK MY JOURNEY at Liverpool Street (and go to a meeting) and then continue on, on the tube, to Euston and resume my journey?

Seems like a reasonable route? But not sure what the deal is on tube journeys etc.

Many thanks,

James

The Off Peak Day Return in this case allows break of journey in both directions. However, if you are on the London transfer part on the Tube you can end that early but *not* resume it, i.e. you will have to pay for the second part of the Tube journey.

That said, I have myself had problems being let out when trying to exit the Tube on a through train ticket other than at a railway station. It's meant to be allowed but you may end up with an argument.

I don't know if that (Stratford) is valid for interchange on that ticket though, someone else will have to clarify.

Ebssfleet-Stratford International-Stratford-Liverpool St (by National Rail) then break of journey, then tube to Euston and onwards would be fine as far as I can see. As Neil says you can't resume a broken Tube transfer but there's no reason to use the Tube here.

Interchange between Stratford stations can be made on foot or by DLR - NRE shows the transfer by DLR but I'm not sure whether this is indeed "free" or if it would be recorded as your "London transfer" (if there are barriers which again I don't know - most of the DLR doesn't from memory).

No barriers at Stratford Int'l and Stratford DLR is inside the gateline.... indeed (I could be wrong here) the only DLR-managed station with barriers is Woolwich Arsenal.

OK, DLR managed ... is Woolwich Arsenal DLR managed? It is linked to SE managed NR station.

There are barriers at Stratford International although they were open and unattended mid-morning a couple of weeks ago.

Do you mean the HS1 station? Unless they have been put in very recently, the DLR station does not have any barriers.
