Can anyone help me with these -

Is there still a loop at Gorton between Bridge or Orchy and Rannoch. I know that there was once a station here but have read conflicting information on whether there is still a passing loop (and I forgot to look when I travelled on the line in April).

What was the old building by Lochielside station - on the loch side and just beyond the railway fence. There is just a concrete base now but with a large hole in it that looks like some kind of inspection pit. I believe that Lochielside only ever had one platform and wonder if the old building was railway related.

Thanks

To your first question, the answer is yes. The loop is still there.

The loop at Gorton was reinstated in 1988 but only as an Engineer's siding, not a crossing loop.

It's a token exchange point, but as Railsigns has said, not a crossing loop.

As for Locheilside - during the construction of the Mallaig Extension a pier and workshops were set up there by "Concrete Bob", so that's probably the remains that you saw. (This information came from the John Thomas book "The West Highland Railway")

Thanks.
Amazing the knowledge of people here.
Yes they seemed the sort of building remains that could have been workshops.
