Hellfire shots mate!

Pity I was at school today, I havn't witnessed enough Ped thrash yet ... lol

Thanks mate :)

Got some nice thrash off 31190 today at Appledore and Rye. Will upload the vid on Thursday after I hopefully see 31190 again.

Nice shots Craig 8-) just wondering was you track side for this or was it a foot crossing for this shot. http://craigrailpics.fotopic.net/p54715888.html

James

Thanks James. The shot in question was taken at one of two foot crossing situated near the windmill at Rye :)

Nice shots Mr S :)

Thanks Mr D :)

I've just thought of something. The only time I have ever had good luck with Peds, was when we went to London that day, CraigS , and saw those 31's at South Kenton.

I partially missed a Ped at Paddock Wood, and I completely missed them at Ashford once, when they ran early :(

Put a High Viz on you might get away with it :lol:

Thing is, if the Marshlink was double track throughout and if I was to stand at the spot I stood for 31190, there would be a chance of getting hit by a train.

You should get yourself to a preserved railway that has a 31. You might stand a chance at seeing one than on the mainline again :lol:

Them 31 hauled SERCOs from Dollands Moor can be quite tricky to get sometimes. A few in the past have run early, the last one ran late. I was speaking to a guy a few weeks back and he said that he once missed one from Dollands Moor because it ran an hour early. A few months later when another one came away, he went out for it and missed it again. He went out an hour early for it and it ran 2 hours early. He then told me that when he went out for the next one, he got to his spot 2 hours early and it ran on time!

Anyway, I have updated my site with a few photos taken over the past two miserable days, featuring;

66731 hauling two GLVs and 73208/206 through Crowhurst [05/11]
31190 and DBSO 9701 at Collington and Crowhurst [06/11]

Well you would move to the other side of the track ;):lol: where do you get the info fo this is it SE-GEN if so what does it come under?:| Nice shots there like the shot of the shed + GLV +73's.

Oh to let you know the VSOE lunch train is out again today Nov 7th http://www.orient-express.com/web/uktr/journeys/4_94327.jsp I think it is round Kent anti-clockwise this time i am seeing it at London VIC & Sittingbourne again if its Kent Lunch train. I am hoping 67005 is on it as thats been down this way for some time it did the VSOE to Folkestone today <( and it did the VSOE to Bristol on wednesday when Clan line failed. 67005 push hard uphill gredient out of Victoria to help out struggling 35028 pulling
the long VSOE stock and there was further problems at Westbury where they had 005 run round and join up to clan line :o wish it be like that on the 15th :lol:

Yes, all the info comes from SE-Gen. The info is normally under the trains' headcode, e.g. 1Q12, 5X66, etc. Times have recently been posted on there for 1Q14 next week. Thanks. :)

I won't bother with that one today. Shame it wasn't next Friday as 1Q14 is also in the area. Shame about Clan Line failing, hope it doesn't do the same on the 15th Nov. The last thing I want to see on the front of Clan Line is a 67. ;)

Oh thats the headcode 1Q12 I have to look out for that next time :D You dont happen to have the 1Q14 times do you I cant find them anywhere think I delete it by mistake :lol: It would be quite good if a 67 was in front of clan line though it has to be either one of the Royals 67029 or one of the Wrexham liveys :D though it would be fantastic if they got 34067 Tangmere on the VSOE instead 8-).

Oh and on the VSOE it was 67005 I fianly seen 67005 moving & clagging :lol: Now i need to see both Royals together now :) Oh and it had 67023 dead engine on the back.

Times for 1Q14 next week can be found here . The various Yahoo groups have search boxes. If you type in the headcode of a working, you are likely to find what you are looking for. :)

I've seen both Royal 67s top and tailing the VSOE together on numerious occasions. The last VSOE to Folkestone Harbour of 2007 was top and tailed by 67005 and 67006.

I had a feeling 67005/023 would be on it today as they were on it yesterday.

It's not bad at Charing. It's better for stuff going down towards Ashford. This is the sought of view you get of trains coming up from Ashford.

Some good shots there James, I like the first one. :)

Going back to Clan Line, are you sure it failed on Wednesday? As I've seen a video on youtube of it and Clan Line appears to be fine, departing Westbury (after attaching back onto the tour) with the VSOE back to London in the evening. The VSOE that 35028 was on, was one to Bath/Bristol, which I believe is always diesel hauled between Westbury and Bristol and vice versa.

I believe Charing station is manned, probably up until midday or thereabouts. The 66 in that shot of mine was working a late running Hothfield-Hither Green stone train, which normally departs Hothfield around 09:17 and passes Charing a few minutes after.

The video that I saw of Clan Line on the VSOE on the 5th can be found here

Looking at them gen messages, it sounds as if the normal Bristol VSOE procedure occured, where;

1. Clan Line takes VSOE from Victoria to Westbury.
2. Class 67 then takes the VSOE to Bath and Bristol, leaving Clan Line at Westbury to be turned, watered and coaled up.
3. Class 67 then returns to Westbury with VSOE from Bristol/Bath.
4. Clan Line then goes onto the other end, ready to take VSOE back to Victoria.

I expect the only thing Clan Line was suffering from was slipping caused by poor rail head conditions, which probably explains why 67005 was pushing hard out of Victoria.

I have updated my site with a few shots taken today, featuring;

73205/209 on 6G12 engineers train at Southease and Plumpton
66035 at Southease
378001 at East Grinstead

Oh dont forget that this thursday is the last VSOE train to Folkestone harbour till next year :D & Clan line is back again on saturday

Regards

Thanks. I couldn't reach the lamp in the shed shot, so there was nothing I could do. At least it didn't have trees growing out of it like the rest of the shots, including the ones of 66701/703/706. :lol:

The track that the 378 is standing on won't be part of the Bluebell Railway. The area in front of the 378, where the silver metal thing is, will be the sight of the platform and run round loop that will be built for Bluebell Railway trains.

I'll probably see both the last Folkestone Harbour VSOE of 2008 and also the one hauled by Clan Line on the 15th. :)

The normal procedure when 'Clan Line' does the Bristol VSOE (to Westbury), is the outward trip is via Basingstoke & Salisbury, but the return is via Newbury & Reading so the loco doesn't need to be turned at Westbury.

Knew someone wasn't quite right with my explanation of the Brisrol VSOE :lol:

Thanks for pointing that out Jon :)

Nice shots Craig like the two ED shots, That livery is that Gatwick Express? 8-)

Thanks James :)

The livery on the ED is Gatwick Express livery, like on non-advertising liveried 460s and a few 442s like this except there's no swoosh bits on the ends like there is on 442s.

Updated my site with a few shots taken today at Crowhurst, Battle, Hove and Preston Park and featuring 37259/606 on 1Q14 Hither Green-Lovers Walk SERCO and 66706/717 on 6G30 Lovers Walk-Eastleigh Scrap Train
