Definitely a bridge structurally - Kentish Way is only a 4-lane road after all.

I'm not familiar with the area but on Google satellite view the other (west) end of Bromley South seems more tunnel-like. It goes under the station forecourt, the three lanes of High Street and some shops. It seems a plausible guess that this is the ex-A21 and is what MotCO was intending to refer to.

(Cue the usual discussion about definitions of "tunnel".)

Does Preston count? I don't live there anymore though I still have a house there. Not sure if it is still open but there is a tunnel at the south end of the station that emerges near the docks IIRC. I used to see oil and bitumen trains using it.

Kirton Lindsey is near the only tunnel in the Humber / Lincs / Notts / Norfolk / Cambs / Suffolk area to my knowledge.
And has anyone said Ryde yet?

With regards to Suffolk, Ipswich actually features the only tunnel on the entire length of the GEML between Norwich and London (discounting Bishopsgate Tunnel on the Suburban lines at Liverpool St, which a GEML service would rarely use).

Still there, complete with quite the gradient too if memory serves. Of course that branch to the docks also features the road and rail bridge!

Kenley has one, towards the London end of the platform. Others include London Road (Guildford), Sutton (towards the Epsom end of the platforms), Oxshott, Sanderstead and Thornton Heath

I'd say they're more bridges with a building on top than tunnels...

Not sure if these have been mentioned already, but there's Ludlow, Penhelig and Five ways to name a few.

The tunnel leads to the former docks and the junction for it is before the station and no passenger trains ( except the odd charter) use it

I don't sign Oxshott but I can say with some certainty that none of the rest are tunnels.

London Rd Guildford - road/pedestrian bridge structure
Sutton - station structure and road bridge
Sanderstead - road bridge and not a particularly big one at that!
Thornton Heath - structure of flats and some of the station buildings

I was wondering how many stations there are on the UK rail network that are situated quite near to a tunnel? I don't mean underground stations like Liverpool Central or Glasgow Queen Street LL by the way, just stations out in the open that have been built by a hill, etc.

Here's a few for starters:-

Kings Cross
Marylebone
Bangor
Dover Priory
Ore
Sowerby Bridge

Glasgow Queen Street LL is inbetween 2 tunnels, so that should count.

Kidbrooke is pretty close to a tunnel.

Funny you should mention that just as I was posting, because the tunnel between Kidbrooke and Blackheath was similarly built because of a landowner not wanting the railway.

Grove Park/ Elmstead Woods can be added to the list-with the tunnel only built to placate a landowner.

Few I can think of...

Brierfield (Brierfield tunnel)
Lazonby & Kirkoswald (Lazonby tunnel)
Dent (Rise Hill Tunnel)
Baildon (Baildon tunnel)

Possibly aswell Garsdale (Moorcock tunnel) and Apperley Bridge (Thackley tunnel) depending on what the limit is.
