My friend has just purchased a class 25 in 0 through Tower models. It's a lovely model and the plan is for us to build a North/Mid Devon based railway along the lines of the old Meeth line.
The loco has 0000 on one headcode and 2B30 on the other.
Does anyone know what service 2B30 would have been? I'm wondering whether he could change them to dominos but if 2B30 is at all relevant to down here then there's probably no need.
Thanks all.

Just had a look through some books in my rather modest library and the closest I've found so far is 2B33 on the front of a class 52 departing Gloucester Eastgate sometime during 1968 with a Paddington train which doesn't seem correct to me as surely it should have displayed A, all pictures of modern traction I have seen so far on the North Devon & former North Cornwall lines seem to solely use C, sounds like a super model btw.

Ah thanks for that Ash Bridge. Now I've got home I'll do bit of digging on the internet. I must say it is a very nice model, as you can see...

Haha, no, that's just a display plinth he's made. He's constructing some boards (he's a carpenter) and we're going to do two each. The plan being that we can set them up in the garden or his garage and link them into an actual bit of fixed garden railway.
0 gauge is somewhat expensive though, luckily his boards are the ones with most of the points on :D
I'm looking at getting an 08 at Christmas as my commitment to the project now, bought some track already. It's a whole new thing working in this scale.

Fantastic, good luck with it all Cowley, a quick update on that headcode, there is a shot on the Cornwall Railway Society website of a 25 identical to yours taken at I think Lapford working a Barnstaple Junc. to Exeter train formed of 4 blue/grey mk1s, headcode displayed is 2B99, so yours is passable wouldn't you say?

That'll definitely do. I think 2B30 must be the local mixed train to the small town in North Devon that we've just invented ;)
Thanks again.

Great that is, always wanted an O gauge layout but you need masses of room for a decent one unless you go outdoors of course.

Yes. It does take up a lot of room. We're thinking that a small run down quayside yard would be a good start, don't need too much expensive stock for that, a couple of locos, a few wagons and a brakevan for now.
We both remember the Meeth line just clinging on and would like to capture a bit of that atmosphere. We're nearly ready with the boards and have just about worked out a way of running it outside.
Of course half the fun is planning it...

I have always thought that planning a layout and building it are actually the best bit. When I was younger I had several 00 gauge layouts at different times and once they were just like I wanted I tended to start again.

That's exactly it. I've been planning a Waterloo - Exeter one in 00 for a couple of years too. Nothing wrong with planning I suppose but I think I may need to earn some more money if I'm ever going to finish these projects.
