16th Nov 2016

Well this is my first report a day of work saw me need to take a trip from Paddington to Ealing Broadway on winning 165103 noted at Paddington also was chiltern 165027 this is the first chiltern unit I have seen in Paddington are these regular here.
On the way to Ealing 387130 and 387135 were spotted in the old oak area after a short visit to Ealing it was back to Paddington on winning 165134 noted at acton was 59201 and 206 and an unidentified Hanson 59 that i couldn't id due to the tiny number and nameplates also noted at Royal Oak the crossrail loco has been changed from 66763 to 66761.
after getting of at paddington i took the hammersmith and city line to kings cross not sure how to get the numbers of these but it was the new s stock anyway up to the mainline platforms winning 365515 and 365530 were taken to finsbury park 365538 and 67030 as the thunderbird loco was noted at kings cross and 66177 on a freight outside finsbury park.
disembarking at finsbury park i waited and took winning 313025 on a welwyn garden city train to harringay where i crossed over and whilst waiting noted 43310 91103 82216 365510 365511 91122 82222 313050 and 43257 passing through then onto winning 313032 back to finsbury park on a moorgate service.
after leaving at finsbury park passed through while i took winning 365528 back to kings cross after leaving i had a look around the platforms and noted 43290 43296 43319 43307 82213 then i decided id have a look on the thameslink at st pancras so it was down and the first train was winning 700008 on a southbound service and was very impressed on my first journey on these new units very smart and modern so this was taken to city thameslink where winning 377503 377510 were taken to blackfriars where i waited for winning 377213 and 377522 to elephant and castle where i crossed over and got stuck in delays twenty mins till next northbound service not wanted.
so 700111 377210 377209 377517 were noted passing through till eventually winning 319453 on a luton service was taken to blackfriars where i bailed to wait for the close running services behind where winning 377215 and 377508 were taken to city thameslink and i the bailed for 319001 and 319477 to farringdon where i once again bailed for 387102 and 387122 which i took to st pancras where i once again bailed for my last thameslink train to west hampstead which was winning 377208 and 377505 once at west hampstead was just one last move to the overground station and winning 378215 was taken to brondesbury to finish my day off looking to be back out tommorow night as this is my first report any help and pointers about style or anything would be great

Sounded like a good day in London :)

The chiltern 165 is the once a day route knowledge train towards ruislip :)

Maybe some paragraphs to separate the wall of text (makes it easier to read in my eyes)

As for the S-stock, I log the two outer cars I.e. 21301/302

Welcome to the ever expanding trip writing community.
An interesting day out and I look forward to reading more of your adventures.
I would echo Kite's comment about perhaps breaking it up slightly, but otherwise it's looking good :).

Welcome to the trip report writing community!

Not a bad read there, but like the others I definitely would have preferred paragraphs to make it easier to read. Question marks, capital letters and that kind of thing would also make it easier to read :) Sorry if that sounds picky!

I look forward to more in the future though :)

Not on a weekend, iirc used to call at Wembley stadium on route to London during the morning peak.

I would say 315s as their replacements will soon be here

Good read indeed. As the guys have said, welcome to.the wonderful world of trip reporting.

Some interesting traction you had there. I've seen a couple of 700's but I was whizzing past them stabled up at Hornsey on an HST, so couldn't ID them. Talking of IDing stuff, as someone who is after all the 59/1's and 59005, I can only share your frustrations on the tiny number plates, I've seen at least 3 or 4, I couldn't I'D, they may only have been 2 of the 5 I require but it would've been nice to know regardless.

Look forward to your next instalments.

well managed to get a bit of bashing round london ill write up a proper report when i get a pc tried to do it a couple of times on my phone but its a nightmare.

got a good few winners for sight and haulage including my first 315s and gwr 387s for haulage plus a few other good moves and caught a nice triple class 37 light engine move through stratford with some nice thrash which was a nice bonus indeed.

also nearly got caught out on a class 90 from liverpool street to stratford do these not stop at stratford anymore

Off-peak the semi-fast Norwich services call at Norwich (normally the XX:30 departures) to pick up only, the 'fast' XX:00 services are non-stop to Colchester. Peak time then I think none of the Norwich Loco hauled servcies call at Stratford

Heading into London from Stratford (on the half hourly ones which call around XX:45 or so) it might be a "set down" only stop, however it does get advertised on the platform screens on platform 9.

It is unlikely you will get a ticket check in the short trip out to Stratford, but just be careful in case you mis-read the timetable and you end up in Ipswich ;)

I've had that before and then I went into a panic as I thought I'd lost about three hours writing. Did you get it sorted?

Either type into word or into another note keeping program when writing up long posts. It's a long term flaw with many forums

London day outs 24+25/1/2016

Hi after getting a couple of days of work i decided to get a couple of days on the rails, the following trips are going to be done in several edits because i twice lost them writing them due to being logged out and not knowing.

So day one started a bit later than i expected but once up and washed i made my way to kilburn park for a bakerloo line train to paddington. After the quick 6 minute journey i made my way up to the mainline platform and wanted a train to ealing broadway to see what was in acton yard and the first service was a heathrow connect so i made my way to the platfrorm and dud 360203 was taken although these are far from my favourite units i find they lack character.
Anyway on the way i seen 66761 is still on the crossrail works at westbourne park and a few dud dbs 66s and a required 59001 and 66757 were seen in acton yard.
Once at ealing broadway i rembered the hayes and harlington shuttles were now using the new 387/1s so had 15 mins till the next paddington service i bailed and went and got a meal deal at sainsburys and then made my way back to the station where i had a 5 minute wait till my next train whilst waiting a required 66206 passed through still have a lot of 66 requirements due to not bothering recording them for years annoyed with myself for that now. Anyway on time double winners 387132 and 387133 rolled in for the short hop to acton mainline where i planned to see what freights came through and also to get the next paddington service. After munching my food and observing a few dud dbs 66s always sems to be the same ones round here since long enough a required 66719 was also seen before on time again double winners 387135 and 387137 were taken for the short trip to paddington which flew in really impressed with these units they look smart and are comfy and smooth ride.

Once i got to paddington i decided to go to liverpool street and see what was a bout there as i was wanting to get some 315 haulage in. As i couldnt be bothered with the long walk to the hammersmith and city line and very infrequent service off peak i decided to take the bakerloo to edgeware road, now this was the first mistake off the day as i forgot the district and circle lines were totally seperate stations so after a walk to the circle and district lines it was a circle line train to liverpool street for the nice easy short walk to the mainline platforms.
Once on the mainline platforms i seen there was a norwich service leaving behind 90010 so after reading you can hop on and off at stratford i decided to take a seat in the set and get some 90 haulage in, but after have a check of the timings on rtt seen it was non stop to colchester nearly my second mistake of the day lol.
So quickly bailing the norwich train i went to the high numbered platforms and found a class 315 waiting to leave on a brentwood service so it was winner 315833 for the hop to stratford which was a good journey and was surprised at the speed the speed it got up to on the way.
So once at stratford i went over to see what was coming through and nothing to note but a dud 66545 but managed to get a few units in for sight, now after looking on rtt i seen a light engine move from crown point to gresty bridge so though this would definatley be worth a look but wasnt due for about 40 minutes so decided on a leap to liverpool street and back.
the next train was formed of winner 360114 for another uninspiring trip to liverpool street where i went looking for a 315 back and quickly found 315859 and 315838 on another brentwood service for another quick nice run to stratford more impressed with these units than i thought i would be.
Once at stratford it was over to platform ten and soon enough saw something in the distance moving slowlyand as the driver applied power a cloud of clag erupted and the growl of a 37 soon told me what was leading and then 37419 leading 37403 and 37405 thrashed by a most welcome bonus for the day indeed.
So decided now to head for some new territory and took 321315 and 321356 for the run back to liverpool street and think of a new plan on the way.

Once back at liverpool street i decided to head to waterloo for some 455 and 456 haulage but as i went through the barrier my oyster card wouldnt let me out saying i hadnt tapped in or out somewhere even though i knew i had touched in and out regular, as the station staff couldnt sort it had to put another 6 pound on which i had to get by phoning up and wait 24 hours for a refund.
The central was then taken to bank for my first trip on the waterloo and city for the quick 4 minute journey to waterloo where i made my way to the mainline platforms and seen a hampton court service which i rembered was a 455 456 combination and sure enough double winners 456011 and 455902 were taken to vauxhall where i decided to bail for another train to clapham junction.
After a minute or so double winners 455737 and 455862 were taken for another short hop to clapham junction.
After getting plenty units for sight it started getting really cold and decided to start making my way home and decided a move to victoria then blackfriars to get the thameslink. So first triple winners of the day 377319 377327 and 377420 were taken to victoria another unit i quite like is the 377s i must admit.
So once getting to victoria i went to the underground but wasn't paying attention and went to the victoria line and couldnt see a interchange for the district line i just took the victoria line to st pancras. I forgot how long it was from the underground to the thameslink platforms and was glad when winners 319435 and 319421 for a hop to west hampstead thameslink.
Once at west hampstead i decided to try and get one last winner for the day on the overground and sure enough winner 378224 rolled in to take me to brondesbury for the short walk home.

All in all a good day out with plenty winners for haulage and plenty winners for sight too hopefully once i wrote a few more reports my style will improve and add more details.

Day two to follow
