What depots do LOROL have in South London? I know New Cross Gate is one but is there on at Norwood Junction too? Applied earlier this week had to use my sister's address heh.

Probably seen the same post on Facebook that I have, from a Driver (who's a Union Rep) who works at LOROL.

I emailed Arriva last week and asked where the vacancies were and what was the criteria for their "living in proximity to the depot", this is the reply.

We have depots situated all across London, so should you be placed in a role your signing on depot would be the one nearest to your location.

We have now removed the exact proximity criteria of how close someone needs to be to the depots, but will sense check them to see if realistically drivers would be able to reach these depots at early/late times in the day

New Cross Gate is the only Traincrew Depot south of the river on LOROL.

There is a Traincrew Depot at Norwood Junction but that belongs to Southern.

I would recommend that people try to get in the habit of getting the name of their potential new employer right! It will be a must at a manager interview. LOROL no longer exist - we are now Arriva Rail London but we still operate the London Overground network.

Last day for sending applications.
Do you have any idea how many positions are open?

Not on website anymore.
Application cut off was 1700.

I've put in an application myself.
This is the first time I've applied for a driver position and would be a move out of aviation for me.

Does anyone happen to know if they'd view a background in aviation as any major advantage or disadvantage?

Good luck to everyone else who's also applied.

Neither.

You can either pass the testing process or you can't. Having said that, there may be certain aspects of your current career that will aid you in the MMI/DMI if you reach that stage. Also be aware that Arriva Rail London require "Enhanced" passes as opposed to national standard.

Applied for the trainee driver role today, submitted at 1650 with 10 mins before the cut-off!

I live in Kent, but mentioned in my covering letter that I am willing to relocate if successful. Will be interesting to see if that's a deal-breaker for getting any further through the process...

Will keep this forum updated with progress if/when it happens, can't imagine getting a response this side of the new year.

Once past the psychometric testing I think it would benefit you. Experience is definitely relevant I'd love to do the opposite but the costs involved are insane.

I know qaulifed drivers are getting screening calls don't know if they are doing the same for trainee roles

Was there a confirmation email sent out after applying because I never had one to say my application was received.

Not in my case, I had a hell of a job submitting the application. It just wouldn't submit, I checked god knows how many times and had not done anything wrong or omitted anything.
I emailed careers the next day and they confirmed that they had received my application after all!
Might be worth doing the same to put your mind at rest.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you know the cut off was 1,700 applicants? Also, does anyone have any idea of timescales for shortlisting, testing etc? Good luck to the 1,700!!

Sorry atochopefull, I meant 1700 as in 5pm... rather than number of applicants.

Though I would be interested to how many applicants people think there are...

Thanks. I'm guessing not LST - CHI via Stratford though (for those engineering days)?

What are the shifts like? I know someone who knows someone who works there and say they pretty much get every weekend off (which surprised me as I thought Sunday's were inside) as they said it's easy enough to swap.

We do not sign Cheshunt via Tottenham Hale as the is no longer access to the bay platform at Cheshunt from the mainline.

Liverpool Street - Chingford
Liverpool Street - Enfield Town/Cheshunt
Liverpool Street - Seven Kings
Seven Sisters - South Tottenham Jnc

I've received a email saying I've passed the paper shift and invited to a test centre on the 13 of Jan. Anyone else received this email also.

Does anyone else find the "arrival" careers site a little confusing? My status shows as "Applications Applied to" and shows the most recent job, and I received a equally confusing confirmation email which was non-committal in its automated response, but under "Applications Submitted" it only shows when I applied for the same role in 2015!
I've emailed them for clarification but is anyone else in a similar boat?

I'd get that checked that they received it then, Mine shows both previous and current applications.

I emailed careers as I did not receive any confirmation on my application and my career login seemed unsuccessful. Got a response today saying application received and that it can take between 3 weeks to 3 months for a yes or no reply at the sifting stage.

I emailed them and they confirmed they'd received it, then referred me to their FAQ's which talks about response times to applications. My issues was that the original response I received and their careers website is not overly clear. Anyway, just need to sit and wait to hear now!
