Hi,

I need your help. I have applied for Customer Service Assistant job with Network Rail and recently did my assessment at London this month and have been called for an interview next week. Getting this job is really important to me and i am tensed about my interview because i have no idea what the interview will be like. In an email i received from them it said its a panel interview and will last for 1 hour. Anyone can please help me as to what questions they might ask me during the interview.

Thanks a lot

Assessment at London? What did that involve? As for the interview, I can't remember much from mine, but it will be along the lines of name a time you've worked under pressure, had to multi-task, dealt with a difficult customer, what would you do if you come across a person who requires medical assistance. I found that because these jobs are entry level positions they are quite forgiving if you can't think of the best examples. I had mine a long time ago so I can't remember that much, sorry.

You'd also be doing a role play if I'm not mistaken. I had two interviews for CSA, failed the first as I was panicking for no reason, but got through on my second attempt. Best asvice I can give is don't feel rushed and take your time while thinking of responses. Don't let the occasion faze you, I came from a retail background with limited work experience and no knowledge of anything relating to safety. Let us know how you get on.

Hi, Thanks for you reply and advice. I will remember this and try to keep myself assertive during my interview. The assessment I did at London was a written assessment and It consisted of 15 customer service situation question (with multiple answer choices) and we had to choose from the most effective to least effective order. This was timed and we were give 15 minutes. However, it was not difficult at all in my opinion. Next round was an observation test and they gave us one photo of a busy station and we had to identify 10 faults in it and also the pic had some possible safety hazards in it and we had to put them in order of importance that you think you will attend immediately or later. (For example if there is a spill on the floor and at the same time you see a customer struggling with heavy luggage which one will you attend first). Thats it!!. Once again thanks for you advise. I hope i can get this offer.

Wow, and this is for a Network Rail CSA position? Must be something new then. Seems quite overkill to be honest. The online SHL tests they did (the old maths one, and the newer verbal reasoning) seemed reasonable enough to sift out unsuitable applicants.

Hi, Are you still working at Network Rail?. If so could you please tell me what challenges you have or had as a CSA?. I am sorry to bother you again but i am just trying to understand the role as much as possible. Thank you. Will keep posted about my interview experience which i have in the coming week.

Hi! Everyone,
I had my face to face interview at St Pancras station for CSA role 10 days before. I am still waiting for result. I am just wandering, how many days normally they take to give the result? Is it positive or negative that they kept me holding? Any answer will be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Alex.

That is quite a long time. Maybe call HR?

HR can be incredibly slow at times. The whole process at my station took almost six months from placing the ad to start date, for hiring one CSA.
Ten days or more is by no means unusual.

Many thanks for replying. I did email them on last Friday but no response yet. Any idea, if they refuse, do they refuse after this long time in last stage?

Just means you have completed the interview, could go either way from that point. Time to wait again
