Maybe it had just broken?

been broken for the past week as the other morning I had to catch it on the 36 and it was not working then, still theres no excuse to put it out on a Saturday when there are spare buses parked up, why not just fix the dam thing?!

I've heard things may start to get interesting in mid Cornwall, with several PCB drivers suggesting Go Ahead are looking into expanding the Go Cornwall branding further west with some direct competition.

All word of mouth/gossip from several different drivers so no definitive source. I guess its a watch this space development, but we know there isn't the demand for 2 operators on any single route in Cornwall.

Talking of not working the heater on 33112 wasn't working today either, there were even people on the bus saying it was warmer outside! certainly felt like it! The poor driver you could see the mist of his breath as he was shivering in his cab! luckily we changed buses when we got back to Helston as I think the driver & us passengers had suffered enough! What a real shame considering Kernow have done such a good job of painting that bus in the new green and yet they can't fix something simple like the heater which at this time of year surely wouldn't be too much to ask!

From what I hear, drivers always note a cold bus on the defect card, but heating problems don't seem to be fixed for some reason.

PCB might just be noting the new First Kernow buses and thinking 'there must be gold in them thar hills', but I think they would be mistaken. As you say, two operators on a route makes no long-term sense, and they may also be not cognisant of the apparently warm current relationship between First and Cornwall Council, though these things can and do change. Just because you may have a perception that you fought First before, in Plymouth and Tavistock, and seemingly won, it doesn't mean that history will repeat itself. I suspect the 'victory' in Plymouth took longer to achieve, and with too many resources thrown at it, than expected and may in part have been down to First's willingness to give it up on receipt of a half-decent offer from Stagecoach. That's my impression, anyway, garnered from my reading and personal observations.

This afternoon I had the joy of one of KERNOW's 'the tinner' MMC's from Truro down to Redruth which when I got there the sun was shining quite brightly for a brief second which showed off the fab red livery a treat :) Also waiting in Redruth was former Fal River Trident 33112 which also looked stunning in the KERNOW green, luckily it was on the 37 bound for The Lizard where I was heading for today altho you wouldn't have known that standing next to it as the side blind can't be working as its been covered off completely. Talking of not working the heater on 33112 wasn't working today either, there were even people on the bus saying it was warmer outside! certainly felt like it! I was just looking on Traveline South West to plan a journey from Bodmin to Hayle. The directions are to take the number 27 and then the number T1. Has the number 18 become the T1?

I know it is only a service number change but I went out on Saturday to see the last day of the 14 and 18:-

Any sightings of the MMCs on other routes yet? I'm not thinking of rail replacement duties.

The blue one's have worked Truro college services a few times but I have not seen the red one's on anything unusual yet.

Having said that there was this unusual RRS destination!

There are college lines allocated for Blue and Red MMCs on those days when there are more available than the PVR

Might I ask what the PVR is for the T1/2? I know I could work it out for myself by going through the timetable, except I don't know whether it's a joint working or separate for each route.

I was late getting back from Hayle. I got as far as Truro, on the return journey, and boarded the pink, white and blue double decker number 27 at 6.35 pm. The driver diverted to the depot and, while reversing and turning accidentally beached it on stones at the entrance with one wheel spinning free. A brilliant mechanic managed to unbeach it, got water for the engine and we were on our way, only about 45 minutes late.

The last journey to Falmouth on the 2 this afternoon was being worked by a blue U-liveried MMC: as I only saw it broadside-on I can't identify which one.

First photo looks familiar, where have I seen one like that before?!

I hadn't even noticed the similarity to your photo, I'm glad it's a different bus! I was driving down the hill towards roseworthy and saw it on the other side of the valley so pulled into the layby to wait for it. A location I've used several times.

It's a good location that I have used several times as well. I also checked to see if it was the same bus, ha ha!

I've a few other photos there on my Flickr and also at other identical locations to you. Father in law owns some property just off the crossroads at the top which I'm working on at the moment due to him going to care.

The issues I seem to get lately when trying to get decent photo's is the amount of traffic in some places as well as pedestrians.

When the MMC's started I tried to get some photo's of them with the Christmas decorations in Camborne as a backdrop. I was thwarted every time by passing vehicles, parked cars and curious people out walking to and from the pub!

Next Christmas I'll get up very early in the morning.

May I suggest Hayle Retail Park, where you are able to photograph 8bph, but you could get run over in the process of getting the photo due to lack of a footpath opposite the stop!
