I'm guessing that living in Nottingham puts me out of contention for this? What is the nearest station/depot/signing on place?...guessing Birmingham

Depends, are you prepared to relocate? Birmingham will be your closest.

I'm surprised so few have posted about these positions. Surely there must be a lot of interest?

Closing date was today - perhaps people didn't want to shout about the vacancies to keep numbers down? Been getting silly with 15k applying to Virgin and 2k applying to Greater Anglia!

I've also applied for this role. Does seem very quiet compared to other threads!! Good luck to everyone.

It's 10 jobs across 4 depots. Many people will have done the maths and probably thought it's not worth it. It was up a week though, didn't close early this year, probably 4000-5000 applicants I reckon.

Also, the 2016 intake of 10 featured 8 internals and only 2 externals!

Got to be in it to win it! I wonder how they do the initial sift, will all apps be looked at or do they have an unlucky pile that don't due to sheer volume?

I would assume they all get looked at, otherwise they could be getting rid of some really strong candidate's.

Doing a little research, I think they may use a computer programme called an 'applicant tracking system' which scans the application for key words and phrases to match the person/job spec. If they match a sufficient amount in your app you go through to the next round, if not, you don't. Makes sense given the sheer numbers involved and the human hours needed to do it manually. Wish I had realised before! Hope I'm wrong, I believe I will have a better chance with a person reading mine.

Early days, I know, but has anyone heard anything??

Not so far, but not expecting to hear anytime soon judging by how long people on this forum wait for their applications to progress with other TOCs. It suits my personal circumstances for this to be long and drawn out, providing I am successful in the end!

Still no news... I take it no one else has heard? It's over 3 weeks now that the job closed.

Any news from anyone? I'm guessing not? Anyone got any inside knowledge at Chiltern could enlighten us?

I've just spoken to them on the phone. They said we'll hear back in 2 weeks time :).
