I can't see a thread elsewhere for this, but did anyone watch this and if so, what were your thoughts?

I enjoyed it AP, I thought the maintenance people working under pressure to get that Class 91 back up and running was interesting, and the morons who overloaded the lift was a good laugh.

In the main, informative TV about railway people going about their business the best they can, and in many cases, under great pressure.

Keep 'em coming I say...

The idiots in the lift would have annoyed me had they have kicked off. It served them right for being trapped.

All in all a good programme though.

I was surprised the lift failed so easily? if it's overweight, the lift should not have tried to move?

And I'm surprised that the station staff couldn't have done anything and had to wait for an engineer to attend.

Exactly. That's the trouble these days. Public facing staff in any industry cannot do anything except look pretty. OBSs is the latest example of this.

It was good to see what the reactions were to the disruption and how much actually goes into dealing with it. For example I thought all the boards were automated but when the controller requested an extra 10 minutes delay on to the departure board for a service it proved me wrong.

I enjoyed it, but thought it was very similar to other rail programmes over the recent few years.

Not sure how they can make a series out of it, as most things seemed to be covered last night!

Chap in the maintenance control room didn't moderate his language for the cameras did he?

I quite like how they feature different stations. I think the previous series were at paddington and London bridge? i hope they do one for London Victoria.

On lifts (but in no way railway related) I always remember staying with a group in a hotel which had an old fashioned cage style lift up from the lobby, designed for four people. Two of our party, both of whom could be described as heavy, went up at the same time and found themselves suspended in mid air for about an hour to much amusement whilst an engineer was summoned.

They did say they'd tried and managed to open the outer doors, but the inner ones failed to budge. All interlocked I imagine just like signalling and most train doors.

I quite enjoyed the programme but the title is misleading. To me, 'Inside King's Cross' suggests that it's going to be largely devoted to that station but, in practice, a good deal of time was devoted to Leeds and York.

I hope they do one at my local station, Sandal & Agbrigg, and show it after 11pm. I'm having trouble sleeping at the moment and believe this could help. ;)

As usual in these programmes, a driver taking his break was mentioned for a delay to a train leaving. Always seems to be snuck (sic?) into each documentary

It's as though no other staff member gets a PNB

Another thing I noticed was that after all the panic about the problem train, they eventually told us it would be fixed in time for an 1130 service, but never said how they covered the 0830 that it was originally intended for.

We were left to guess that presumably it was swapped with the 1130 set, but how handy that it just happened to be in the right place to cover a 3-hours earlier service.

You may be surprised but I saw the first episode today via a TV torrent site (has hands slapped) and I enjoyed it. OK it's the same as other recent "reality documentaries" on various channels over the last few years but I do enjoy seeing these types of Rail programmes.

Speculation - but I would expect they would be reducing turnaround times of other services (or departing them late)

They have certainly done this in the past at Edinburgh (although my example is now daigrammed to do this).

The 0830 Edinburgh - London KX used to come from depot, the 0930 used to be the return of the Newcastle service. In times of problems East Coast used to take the Newcastle service to do the 0830, the Doncaster service to do the 0930 and hope that they have got a train ready to do the 1000.

I suspect that they did something simular with stepping up sets at at 1130 they had ran out of options.

Thanks, I wonder why it's not online on my5
Perhaps they didn't buy right shot show it online.

I remember in 2015 or 16 the BBC had a program on The House of Commons. Most programs were now available for 30 days but bizarrely this was only available for 7 and I missed seeing the whole of one episode as a result as I hadn't expected the such short viewing times.

Managed to watch it on Sky Go. They seem to have a good camaraderie. I wonder if management chose which shifts the cameras can follow though.

Looks like next weeks episode shows the aftermath of a very nasty PTI incident.

It wasn't the fact the driver was on a break that was surprising, it was the fact the dispatcher didn't know the driver was on a break.

Seemed rather poor communication, a bit like the broken down train being brought in and nobody realising there were still passengers on board.

And then the controllers announce no seat reservations and are puzzled when everyone runs to get a seat. Really, what did you think would happen.

I'd forgotten about all of those. Very good points!

It must be the only lift in the world where the passenger limit is less than the number of passengers that will fit in it. Every other lift I have been in you wonder how on earth you fit the maximum number of people in.
