Eastleigh100 UPDATE (30th March)
Eastleigh will host the first public appearance for more than 18 years of No.
50026 Indomitable. In it’s final stages of a restoration to main line condition, the loco, once a resident of Booth’s Rotherham, will be started publicly for the first time on the Saturday. Finished in large logo blue livery, the weekend will also see the loco re-dedicated by some of the survivors of the WW2 aircraft carrier that was scrapped in 1955. Withdrawn in December 1990, after a spell at Laira and Booth’s the loco, intended as a source of spares for 50027 Lion, was moved to MoD Bicester for restoration, and was the loco that was dropped. Fully repaired, it’s appearance is not to be missed.
Also appearing, and making its debut in
Loadhaul livery will be No. 50035 Ark Royal, and it is hoped this loco will be rededicated too.
There should also be on site a couple of
Class 59, a pair of Colas 47s, 37425, 47580, and some DRS Class 37s.
Tickets for Saturday are selling fast and it is recommended that visitors opt for Sunday/Monday.
