Have any new Station Roads (or similar) been created in recent years?

In Tiverton Station Road, which is just off Great Western Way, is just over 4 miles away from the station

Cookham Station is on Station Hill, with Station Road being a cul de sac going off in the exact opposite direction from the station. The station itself hasn't moved.

Bracknell has Station Road, Station Square and Station Way. The station is on... Market Street.

There are a lot of places with a Station Road and a Station Approach leading from Station Road to the station itself (on a quick scan of a relatively small area I picked up Wokingham, Willesden Junction, Marlow, Henley on Thames and West Drayton - Taplow is just "Approach Road").

I'm going to put Redcar Central forward even though it's slightly complicated.

The original station building and main entrance were on Station Road but subsequently closed and the main building is now a business centre. There is a small entrance to platform 2 just off Station Road.

However, the official address is now West Dyke Road and the main entrance to the station is now off this road next to the level crossing.

Lochwinnoch has a Station Rise, a modern housing estate built on the site of the old station which closed in the 60s and its railway now a cycle track; the present Lochwinnoch station is about half a mile away, it used to be called Lochside.

Alsager. Neither the station, nor the road have moved, yet Station Road is not that close to the station. From the top end you can see, if not the station, then the level crossing! Due to the level crossing, one platform is on Audley Road, the other is Sandbach Road. Audley Road does go to Audley, Sandbach Road does not go to Sandbach! The offical address is Sandbach Road, as that is where the main station building once stood (car park now) The Station Masters House (still standing and still lived in!) is on Audley Road

Northampton.

Station Road is in Great Billing and Billing, once upon a time had a station in its own right on the Northampton to Peterboro line.

There is a Station Road in Mickleover but the station closed decades a go. Incidentally the station was some distance from the centre of the village and when it was built was in the middle of nowhere.

Railway Street refers to the closed line through the former Dewsbury Central station, which was next to the Market and now buried under the ring road. The current station was formerly Dewsbury Wellington Road, that being the historical name of what is now that section of the ring road.

Colchester station is officially on Station Approach, very close to its namesake North Station Road (although Colchester is no longer referred to as North Station, merely Colchester)

Farnborough. It caught me out in early 1991 when I had a job interview. The Royal Aircraft Establishment got me digs for 2 nights at a house in Station Road in Farnborough. I got off the train at Farnborough, expecting to walk straight into Station Road. Instead, it was (still is) Union Street. I asked around, and no-one knew. Someone suggested that it could be at Farnborough North, so I walked there. When I got there - no Station Road! A local noticed I was in bother, so he kindly drove me back to the main station. The station staff then told me where Station Road was, which (fortunately) wasn't too far away, but it has no direct link with the station.

The railway line at Orpington marks the change of the A232 from Station Road to Crofton Road. However, the entrances to the station are in Crofton Road or Station Approach, a turning off station Road.

Splitting hairs (or roads), the up platform at Seaton Carew is accessed from Station Lane, while under the bridge to the down platform it is Seaton Lane :)

The old name for Newport Station was Newport High Street, yet it wasn't actually on High Street!

The old building was actually on Station Approach, but this disappeared when Queensway, which runs through what was the Goods and Parcels Depot, was built around 15+ years ago. The new station building is on this road, but it is (as far as I know) never referred to in it's formal address - if it has one!

There was and still is a Station Street near the station, but it is at an angle to the station and doesn't (and never has, as far as I know), been a route to the station. It leads at one end to Railway Street, but this runs away from what was the main entrance to the old station, but towards Queensway and the new station.

I hope that that's clear ..... ?!!

Carshalton. Station Road is little cul-de-sac which is about 100metres away from the station and doesn't lead to it. Nor has it ever.

Good thread btw - there are many more than I would have thought. Of course there are literally hundreds of Station Road's which no longer have stations but Station Road's which have never had a station is far more fun!

- Slough used to have a Station Approach, but when a one way system was created, Station Approach went away from the station. This may or may not explain why Station Approach was combined with part of Mackenzie Street to form Brunel Way.

Eaglescliffe is another odd one; the access is from Station Road but it is a ramp-and-footbridge arrangement that runs parallel to and crosses a car park that is technically Railway Terrace.
