Reported as indeed 1S14 involved, apparently it is suffering from a pantograph fault.

Edit: It's actually lost its pantograph. Extensive damage to the overhead lines on the down main has been reported by the driver of a freight train going in the opposite direction.

I'm guessing the HST's will go via Leeds or Ferrybridge where possible to keep a service running

thunderbird is now close to the affected train for a drag back to donny

EDIT They've actually sent it the long way presumably for a drag to York instead

VTEC tickets can be used on the following

TransPennine Express services between York and Leeds
East Midlands Trains services via any reasonable route
CrossCountry services via any reasonable route
Virgin Trains West Coast services between Scotland and York

Reminds me of that time an electric loco was sent to inspect the overhead wires which were down...

Transpennine Express are of course diverting their Newcastle Liverpool services that way today as well.

Or not now, as the case may be...

Just been terminated at Sheffield, northbound, and now hoping to proceed on a diverted Cross Country service which will no longer call at Doncaster.

We were meant to be doing the TPE divert as well, but the services are canned. We were meant to be on the 1310 from Sheffield Northbound which we've been turfed off and are now on a Northern to Doncaster

Remember back in December at Northallerton
1E19 pulled wires down on up fast
185 reported all good from up slow
320 pulled wires down on the up slow...

Same one that we were on. Now in the arms of CrossCountry, diverting via Goldthorpe.

Oh, I see what they've done. Instead of having the rescue loco on wrong way working they have sent it round the long way, so may be dragged into York by the looks of it.

XC diverting both ways via S&K unsure on the plan for GC at the moment as they have no paths available through the Single Line section.

I understand the Down Highland Chieftain has been diverted via Wakefield Westgate & Leeds, with a few forum members on it who are heading for York.

Why are TPE services so badly affected even thought they don't run between york and Doncaster?

They are this weekend due to engineering work they are diverting via Doncaster & Sheffield on the Manchester Aiport to Newcastle runs
