Does anyone know which trains are diagrammed for 2 x Voyagers on the XC network?

Of course it makes sense to take the HSTs, for which we publish the diagrams in the Frequently Requested Diagrams thread, but sometimes the times of these don't suit, and it's worth knowing which trains are less likely to have sardine can line conditions ;)

Many thanks in advance :)

it would be great - i could avoid them ;)

( it would be useful to know as it increases the chance of a seat - although it is frustrating to see a double up arrive with the back set locked out of use!)

The 13.07 from Edinburgh to Plymouth is a guarantee for a pair, except on a Friday where it used to be an HST. Made the mistake one too many times of gunning for it before the summer timetable on another day and expecting a HST, despite it being timed for one.

The 11:25 from Plymouth to Dundee is Tuesday - Friday a pair of Voyagers as far as Newcastle, when one splits:
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/P30893/2017/06/23/advanced

(I think the split Voyager becomes this this ECS and then presumably forms one of the later services out of Newcastle)

The split Voyager attaches to 1M76 which is the 1935 Newcastle to Birmingham (this one previously works 1V51 1007 Manchester to Bristol and is then the front of 1S49 from Bristol at 1330).

The other unit which starts from Plymouth alone works through to Dundee upon splitting at Newcastle.

A fair few services are doubles on a Sunday too. I believe there is a late afternoon Penzance to Leeds which is 220+220.

I don't think the 2000 from Bristol is a pair anymore. For a long while it has been a single unit. Apparently 1V64 splits at Gloucester now.

Note that the 2000 is under the Saturday section, it being a double for the summer with the attachment coming off 1V63.

There are likely to be a few tweaks this weekend to the double diagrams due to HST availability and less spare Voyagers available.

I noted that tonight's 1O24 1527 Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth was formed of a double voyager. A one-off or has that service been doubled up recently?

Booked a double on a Sunday, the working which forms it from Birmingham is also a double set (1H41 13:31 Birmingham-Manchester)

You haven't developed a Voyager fetish or obsession have you?

Someone on the team needs some therapy rather urgently if so!

One thing that is worth noting from experience (be it 18 months ago) is that reservations may only be in one set (presumably because if it is short formed, there are no missing reservations). It was that 1V64 1307 Edinburgh to Plymouth that I travelled on and I travelled in the front set which was unreserved and had Gloucester on the front blind

I do seem to recall the online seat booking thing on XC's site showing both sets, however

The 1307 EDB-Plymouth was made up of a 4 and 5 car to make a 9 car train. Is this the normal state of affairs or did I see something rare?

It must have been a Friday as the unit that comes off at NCL works through to EDB on a Friday.

Must have been a Monday, the Dundee currently only runs through as a double on a Monday.

I wouldn't call it rare for it to be 9 cars, but it is booked a double 220, so two 4 car sets.

What I don't think it can be is 2 x 5 car 221 as I don't believe some of the platforms can accommodate more than 9 (Cheltenham Spa being one as I seem to recall there not being much platform to play with with the 9 car in it)

Was last tuesday , announcement said 8 car xc service to Dundee

Ah, was reported as dividing at Newcastle. Could of been a last minute alteration, not booked.

Cheltenham Spa can take 2x 5-car. Key Short platforms on the main line Edinburgh-Plymouth are Chesterfield, Burton-on-Trent and Totnes. Chesterfield is 8 on the down, 9X(precision stop) on the up. Burton-on-Trent is 9 both direction. Totnes is 8 both directions.

Chester-le-Street, Teignmouth, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren are all also short platforms, 5X both direction, 8X on the up, 8 on the up and 5 both direction respectively.

Does anyone know what the 0608 Edinburgh to Plymouth on Saturdays is likely to be, 8 cars or 9?

Is it likely to change for Bank Holiday weekend?

It is booked an 8 car. Don't think it is any different on 26th.

1V50 (0608 Edinburgh-Plymouth) will be an HST on Saturdays from 2nd September.

First two Saturdays are altered diagrams due to engineering works and it will run to Paignton.

From the 16th September 1V50 and 1E63 (1525 Plymouth-York) are booked HST on Saturdays.

Caught the 1307 Edinburgh to Plymouth on Tuesday (220034+220013) and the formation went G - H - J - L - A - C - D - F. Front portion on arrival at Derby (being 220034) still had Plymouth on the front.
