I'm pretty sure that the MD of South Western Railway - Andy Mellors has said that there will be no rebrand until after the Waterloo works. I wouldnt even expect the SWT branding to be removed until later.

They announced the new franchise launch would be Sept 4th, but I'd still expect any new brand to be included in publicity from Sunday. I.e. the brand as applied to website, posters, leaflets, timetables, will have to be known, unless they reprint everything again later?

Re vinyl liveries, I quite like the slightly matt effect they usually have. Probably just plain white underneath I'd imagine.

A fair point. It may actually be that IF the word Stagecoach had occurred on the exterior bodywork that would have had to go.

First's 'naming' with their older TOCs had been the opposite of Stagecoach policy, with the word appearing everywhere. Virgin like bigging themselves up too, don't the 390s even have it engraved in interior glass? How will they ever sort that out?

I suppose that the Trains bit could be obscured with ern added to the Sout West bit as a temporary look for South Western or simply they could run round as what FCC did with their Southern livered 319's - a huge sticky lable stuck on the side of the units as a short term measure.

Either way the familiar red, orange, yellow, white and blue of SWT will be missed once the units are relivered in whatever will be the new livery.

Agreed. I sometimes wonder about the swoosh too to be honest although the painted colours on the early 707 photos are a good indication that you're right.

Is that definitely the case? Those seats were of course installed like that from refurbishment, rather than having been subsequently branded, so is it possible that there was some form of approval when the refurb spec was agreed? The 180s have First stamped into the door sills, presumably it wasn't removed for Northern and then put back again?

159014 debranded - it no longer has South West Trains on the sides. Operating between Basingstoke and Salisbury this afternoon.

I now need to correct that. It's the company name on the lower (white) panels that's been removed. The name still appears in the shwooshes on the upper side panels at the driving end of the DMs. At least. it was still there at 16.45. I hadn't realised that till I looked at a photo.

It really doesn't matter what Scotrail 'want', there's either an obligation to remove it or there isn't. Given that any future reuse elsewhere was probably thought somewhat unlikely at the time the heavy refurb was carried out, I'd be not at all surprised if such a clause wasn't considered particularly relevant in this case.
