Good Morning all,

Hope everyone is ok,

I wanted to reach out to you guys to ask a question. I applied and passed the assesment and interview and medical for the TSC role this month and they have now advised me that I am in the talent pool awaiting a offer.

I called them today and they have advised that the station I applied for is not recuiting until november 2018, my question is why did they advertise the role for this station if they didnt have any roles?

When I called HR and they advised me of this I asked if there were any other stations that I could go to and they said it is not possible to choose any other stations.

My big problem is that my contract at my current role finishes at the end of this month so and I was hoping that I would be able to start either september or october and I could temp in the mean time but now I dont know what to do?

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do?

Thanks

Adam

Hi Adam...

Just to understand fully your London Midlands Trainee Senior Conductor role.. By any chance was Your assement held on a Wednesday ? And your Medical a good few weeks ago on a Friday 04/08/17 ? I have also passed all stages of The London Midlands Trainee Senior Conductor role and spoke to a lady called Vanetta. She said a start date for that role would be forthcoming and courses would start up soon.

Apologies if I have misunderstood your situation I'm just going of the back of your thread title.

Hi Benno94

Yes assessment was held on a Wednesday but medical was on the 8/8/17, I called and Vaneeta was the one that advised me that the depot closest to me was not hiring till 2018.

Thanks

Sorry to hear that buddy, what a royal pain in the arse that is. We probably have crossed paths then ? Assessment behind held at 102 New Street ? You're not by any chance the chap from Milton Keynes ?

Either way still a massive achievement to have passed !

Yes ! I know exactly who you are now haha... I was the chap you came and sat next to in the canteen area, Blue suit yellow tie, I think we arrived a good hour before the assessment i remember you telling me you'd arrived by train. Then I sat infront of you during the actual tests...

Fantastic i did wonder how you got on... I only signed up to this because I remember you saying you had joined a online forum prior to taking the assessment. To answer your question I passed everything! Assessment, Interview and medical. I'm just awaiting a starting date now... I'm case the username haven't given it away my names Ben I didn't manage to get yours fella ?

Hi Ben

Im Adam to start off with, I was wondering if you would come on this site, I am really happy to hear thaat you passed everything. I called LM HR this morning and I got a new update from Vaneeta, She has advised that they are going to be sending out offer letters late Nov to start in Jan, So hopefully we will be on the same course.

I am happy I am going to know someone on the course, But it might be worth chasing her yourself to make sure she gives you the same information.

Thanks

Adam :D

When did all you guys apply? I did so just over 3 months ago and not even heard back yet, looks like nobody else will be considered until the new franchise if you didn't make the courses for this year.

I am an internal applicant so I know how patient you have to be when applying for these jobs, I do feel for the guy above whose contract runs out soon, definitely good to get other work sorted first as you cannot rely on a quick start date!

Fingers crossed you all hear back soon!

Joe, have you heard anything yet? I interviewed the same day as you. They said I will know by the end of last week. I assume they said the same to you? I've not heard a thing off them.

Hi Lower74,

Did you hear anything...?

Yes. Only after ringing them. Vaneeta then sent me an email 30 mins later saying I was unsuccessful. They also apologised about the delay in getting back to me.

Gutted that I didn't get the job, but that's life. The better candidates got the positions, so fair play to them. However, I'm pretty angry that LM couldn't be bothered to let me know. It's not difficult to send an email. Especially as they must know how anxious applicants are when awaiting a response.

Hi both,

I found out off 2 LM employees that they had their cards set on who was getting the roles. Family members within the organsation. Sounds like they were just running interviews to make it look legit. Very disappointed to say the least.

That doesn't surprise me, if that's true. Hope it isn't, because that would be a complete waste of 2 years of my life waiting around for this job!

That is really bad that that happened, but as you have already passed the assesment that does work in your favor as you can apply for other franchises cause the assesments are different they make offer you an interview. I have heard that VT are going to be looking soon

Other method

Haven't you been put into the talent pool for when future vacancies arise?

I would be careful what you say because it might come back to haunt you, you never know who reads these forums!

Couldn't care less buddy. I feel like I've been messed about. And I don't know, because they lack massively when it comes to sharing basic information.

I'm applied back in June this year.. In the July they invited me for the Testing and then from there a interview on the 31st July. I have no clue how many there is now but I then passed the Medial on the 4th of August.

Again not sure how many people will be on the course but I believe I'm on the last one of the year now... Starts 2nd October. It has been a long process but hopefully worth it in the end.

Fingers crossed for the guys who didn't get in, Hopefully when West Midlands trains get in, in December there'll start hiring quickly.

my advice is dont let the knock backs ruin what you want to achieve , i first started back in the late 80,s as a guard , left after 10 years and came back 4 years ago , even with my "experience" and even knowing many people i still got a couple of knock backs when i tried to come back - both of these were at final interview stage and once id even had a medical

i eventually got back as a conductor and then last year i got a driving position

im exactly where i planned and wanted to be , ive had to jump through a million hoops and its been frustrating but dont give up , sometimes having that attitude is enough to see you through , and yes i know sometimes its easier said than done but take your knock back and learn from it and crack on and be better next time ......but be patient

it can be done

Well done you! You say it's a long process but your experience seems pretty fast to me, hopefully you are right about more positions becoming available when the new franchise starts, we shall see! :)

The recruitment for this is still active, I know someone that applied and has only recently received an invite to tests. Any heads up on the testing process would be great ie GB paper or comp?

Hi Adam,
I have a start date for January as senior conductor for Birmingham, I understand you have gone for a different depot but I was just wondering if you recieved a starting date yourself.
