There was a shiney new "mango" one on skylink in long eaton at just after 7am this morning heading for Nottingham as I went the other way, had me a little confused at first as the "mango" on the front doesn't really stand out from the bright background colour in the half light of early morning.

Funny you should say that - was around 7.50 I saw it heading outbound this morning! Thought it was solid orange at first on the side then noticed the "mango" in the drizzly overcast daylight!

There are only two mango branded enviros.

Fully branded fleets of new enviros are due for Skylink Nottingham and Mainline this month.

How does the House of Commons have any influence here? If not TB itself or some other operator, the responsible body is the local council.

Agenda item 1 - Sorting out Brexit
Agenda item 2 - The Ilkeston local minibus

Seriously though, the House of Commons is a couple of levels too high, surely Derbyshire CC is more appropriate, although I doubt they'd be up for funding the route change, and Trent Barton changed the route as a commercial decision.

I saw the X39 entering Derby today at exactly 3pm in the form of a Midland Classic dual door double decker.
Only about half a dozen people on though.

Yes they are interchangeable - I have used Trent Barton Zig Zag on Arriva no problem.

Not Nottingham but Derby. From a trentbarton e-mail.

Join us for our BIG DAY OUT as we launch brand new buses for the allestree on Sunday 15 October. We will also be showing off all our most recent buses as well as running heritage buses on routes to Allestree & Mickleover. We will have a memorabilia stall where you can buy items with all proceeds going to our charity of the year, When you wish upon a Star. Get your name in lights on the destination blind & grab some refreshments from our friends at the Big Melt cheese toastie stand & wash that down with a visit to the Amber Ales beer tent. (hot & cold drinks will also be available.)

  • the allestree's big launch
  • vintage bus rides
  • buses of today & yesteryear
  • beer & food stalls
  • meet the teams
  • get your name in lights
  • sit in the driver's seat
  • get your hands on some memorabilia
  • grab some allestree themed goodies

You can use a trentbarton ZigZag on the X38 - but not Zigzag duo or ZigZag group. You can't use a Mango card on the X38 either.

I'm not as sure about the other way around.

Arriva mention you can't use the 4 weekly saver on trentbarton (which seems oddly specific) here

I'm not very sure on this but I know there are specific limits on what each operator will accept on the X38. As far as I can recall, the 'Pronto' (Nottingham - Mansfield etc) has similar problems, where Stagecoach is the joint operator. The common denominator is, of course, Trent.

On pronto they don't even accept all their own tickets...

This has always been a situation which has never been resolved. I don’t know who is to blame. Is it Stagecoach or Trent Barton who will not co-operate. I wonder if the local authorities have ever tried to get the operators to accept each other’s tickets?

I can understand there being problems accepting smart cards from a different operator but I am sure that they could accept their own. It’s even less understandable why they can’t even accept paper versions of Zigzag and Day Explorer on their own buses. Living close to the Pronto route between Nottingham and Mansfield it’s so annoying when enjoying a day out with a Stagecoach Explorer or Trent Barton Zigzag or Mango that I have to pay an additional fare to use Pronto.

You can use a Mango on Trent Barton X38 Journeys - have done a number of times including last Friday when I was forced to spend an extra hour in Burton due to Trent only running half their journeys that day!

Not sure you're allowed to criticize Trent - aren't they the 'Really Good Bus Company'

At least in that situation you can just ask the driver for your money back when you get off - they'll happily credit it straight back on to a Mango card. There aren't that many bus companies that will do that (and I have done it a few times over the years when I thought it was deserved and for something in their control)

Notts & Derby are reducing journeys on services 11 & 73 from the end of November. Service 73 on Schooldays has no journeys out of Derby between 1345 & 1705 - currently it is hourly til 1800. The 11 looses some early morning Saturday journeys in both directions and teatime journeys towards Derby. Service 12/A & V3 are also revised from the same date.

I think the confusing ticket interavailabilities may be the result of the Competition Commission report on the bus industry a few years ago. This forbade any deals for operators to agree ticket recognition between themselves unless all operators on the route/area get the opportunity to participate. I believe existing arrangements were allowed to continue but new ones couldn't be started, and that was the reason the previous tram operator accepted the Easyrider Anytime but not the Anyday (or whatever it was called at the time).

All in the best interests of the consumer ... not.

I don't mind criticisms when it's fair & warranted, like the case with ticket acceptance on the joint routes when using the other operator tickets, it's gets annoying when it's criticism for the sake of it, or out & out vitriol with quite libelous posts like a member posted[ARF], who's long since been perma banned.

Surprised to see Trent reducing the frequency of Spondon Flyer at the end of Oct. from every 10 minutes to every 15 throughout the day.

I've read elsewhere that Wellglade experienced a big drop in profits in the last financial year, perhaps a bit of pruning is going on!

I think the Spondons also lose the Versas and get just Solos.

As mentioned above, some cuts to Notts & Derby services coming soon as well.

The rationale for the Spondon Flyer is that the Ilkeston Flyer is much more frequent than it used to be, so TB are still running 8 buses an hour through Spondon, but that only helps if you are close to Dale Road.

Not that helpful, only stop in Spondon during the day is White Swan (unless that's changing). The Y3 however...

You're absolutely correct, I hadn't realised that - the Derbyshire CC timetable lists the stopping places and it is only the White Swan.

I'm guessing these will be the '12' reg examples from the Allestree. They have a sandwich board in Derby bus station proclaiming that there are 'newer buses with USB ports coming soon!'. A whole 12 months newer!!
