Hello all,

I'm due to start my training for trainee mainline driver at Waterloo. Can anybody tell me where the training for the course takes place? Seems like a split between southampton/basingstoke (?)

Can anybody clarify how the training works in terms of locations?

Thank you

Basingstoke.....you are given your free SWR travel pass on the first day.

Majority of your days are spent at Basingstoke but it is broken up with....

Front end turns (cab experience) at the depot you have applied for

You do visit Signal boxes, depots & yards....

Your away from Basingstoke when you go start your driving with a DI

Then traction training is done that Clapham Yard or Wimbledon Park.

Monday to Friday 9-3ish

Don’t bother contacting them, if you make it through the sift or not they will contact you in due course, they are a nice bunch in HR and will be snowed under with applications. Patients is key with the railways, so just go about your day to day running of life, they will contact you.

I can only echo what has been said above. The recruitment staff at SWR are excellent.

I started in October and I found everything to be genuine and professional. Stay patient. It took me 5 months from application to interview but worth it in the end!

Just been told I've been selected for the assessment centre after applying for the Woking depot. First time I've made it through after several applications to TOCs.

Any useful practice material for the tests that people can recommend?

Thanks

I am going through the recruitment with SWR - still waiting for an interview date - and what I find strange is that in the career section of their website, it doesn't inform you what the company benefits are eg, details of pension scheme - how much you pay and if final salary or not, how much annual leave do you get, staff travel concessions etc.

:( oh no. Really sorry to hear that. :(

I don't have access to my personal emails until I get home. Which is something I'm not looking forward to checking now :(:(

Mine didn’t say just that I was unsuccessful

However I am from grays in Essex and on a good run with no traffic I’m a 55min drive or 59min on train, so distance might have been a reason.... or could’ve been they didn’t like my application!!!!
