Travel through there most days and ticket office and waiting area (and access to ticket machine) have been closed morning and night since Tuesday (Monday?).

Unprofessional hand written notice on the door saying it's due to "unforseen circumstances".

Customers not happy to put it mildly having to stand out in the cold at 7am.

Anyone know if this is temporary or permanent? One or at most 2 days could be put down to staff sickness etc but get a grip Northern...

According to staff at Leyland, it is down to staff shortages and no cover. Should be back open next week.

As for passengers standing outside, that is something that we manage at Leyland, Adlington, Blackrod, Lostock etc without issue :)

Along with hundreds of other stations around the country.

No sign of it reopening. Notice up in window now says closed until further notice.

The official response I've had from Northern is totally different strangely enough....the station needs "essential repairs"

Respectfully or otherwise, I would suggest it is Northern/Arriva management who require "essential repairs"

On the local facebook pages there are various reasons reported, one of them being (allegedly from a Twitter interaction with Northern) that the building was flooded and damage has been caused to the TVM and the ticket office. That would account for Northern's "essential repairs".

You'd have thought they would have switched the TVM off then? This morning it was still switched on, eagerly waiting to sell tickets!

That building has not been flooded.

I'd go with what the staff at Leyland said...short staffed. Ironic isn't it that Arriva promised to re staff lots of unstaffed stations but can't keep their existing ones open.

Don't think the place was open over Christmas. I had to get my season ticket from Adlington. might have been shut on Sat 23rd? I seem to remember.

They were happy for Burscough Bridge to be de-staffed in 2016.

They ran a trial of staffing Guide Bridge on Sundays but as far as I am aware the trial has ended and it isn't staffed on Sundays any more.

Definately open on Thurs 28th I renewed my ST. Was off on 29th so dont know.

First day back for me was 2nd and it was closed then and ever since.

Known it be shut in the evening (6pm ish) a few times but always seen it open in the morning until 2nd on the days I've used it.

Absolutely nothing to do with staff shortages.

Rodent problem in the booking office.

If they are saying its a rodent problem they had better be worried because there would be only 1 or 2 stations open! I saw a mouse the other day inside Atherton booking office, it has about 6 bait boxes and its still open.

There are quite a lot of rostering changes going on at the moment with various stations being brought into the "central area" Previously Blackburn, Burnley Central, Burnley Manchester Rd and Accrington had relief staff that also covered Chorley, Adlington and Buckshaw. I believe this may have had an impact as the stations beyond Horwich now fall into the "west area".

Which stations are you covering Lemmy? You seem to be a man in the know!

Finally open this morning, closed tonight (which is not unusual)
No sign whatsoever of flood damage, repairs etc
