I want to know what happened to the rest of the TSO vehicles.

According to rumors, the remaining TSO vehicles are rumored to have been discarded and will be written.

I am Korean and do not speak English well. I write it by translator.

Welcome to the forum "yh00157". Your translated English is as good as my proper English!

There's unlikely to be any future use for spare Class 321 TSO vehicles, so any spares after conversion to the Class 320 3 car units are likely to be scrapped.

I’m not sure if they have indeed been “written off” as assets, but the last time I passed through Doncaster they were still visible in the Works sidings.

Definitely still there this morning. Must be at least a year that they've been there.

Might be worth holding on to some Mk3 vehicles in warm storage in case another Oxshott happens...

Well that's my question answered then, I was wondering what those EMU cars were doing there when at Doncaster a few weeks ago.

Think the circumstances are a bit different now with the number of 319 units available post-Thameslink ;)

Wasn't there also a repainted FGE driving end of 321 at Doncaster?

Being cynical, I have visions of someone suddenly deciding to use the TSOs to make the converted units back up to 4 cars and then publicise this as a massive capacity increase.

In reality, I can't see these vehicles surviving for too long, especially once more 321s start coming off lease with nowhere to go, if that's what happens.

I believe it's intended that ScotRail will eventually replace the 318/320 fleet with a new suburban build.

Can't really see why these couldn't be made to last quite a bit longer if necessary. They're pretty suitable as they are for the routes they work, especially when in 6-car formation. Could get rid of the 318s to standardise with 320/321s. Spare parts will be pretty easy to come by...

If you took all the spare cars and joined them up with a spare DVT on one end and a class 68 on the other, could you have a powered doors replacement for the Fife Circle hauled stock or the Cumbrian coast LHCS trains? Big saving on time spent closing and checking manual doors, but I guess lots of technical issues would make it unviable?

"Issues" is the wrong word - the carriages are simply not compatible as LHCS.

The dts car you are referring to is a spare body shell built at Crewe the same time they built the four new shells to replace the crash damaged vehicles from the 321 pile up in the mid 1990s

I think all of those coaches also have toilets in too?

They are not tso cars they are ats cars and there is only one left at donny which has been gutted inside

ATS (in terms of carriage designation) isn’t an abbreviation I have come across before..?

It stood for auxiliary trailer standard (I think)
They also dropped the p off the pmos car , p standing for pantograph

When they took the toilet car out of the units and classified them as 320s they had to move the compressor from the ats car and put it under one of the DTS vehicles

OK, I know I'm in to Crayola territory here but....

As reported above, most of these coaches are now no longer existent. However there will be more when the next batch of 321s are converted to 320s. (3 of them?) Is there any way a diesel engine could be slung underneath, and then the coaches inserted in to existing 2 car Class 150s to create 3 car 150s?

Or am I creating a solution to a problem that doesn't need solving?

Are all seven trailers gone from Doncaster then? I'm a bit confused now.

I know there will be a simple explanation but why didn't we just send four car units to give the Scots a bit more elbow room? Platform length? Not power supplies one assumes. Consistent fleet?
