The Forum Team have reviewed the structure of our Forum and decided to make some amendments to the Categories and Forums that make up the site.

All the Forums which relate to Railway Hobbies and Activities have been moved into a Category together, which will include our ever popular Quizzes and Games section.

Additionally our Railway History and Nostalgia, and Buses and Coaches forums have continued their growth and popularity therefore we have decided to give these areas more prominence.

We hope you like these changes, watch this space for some other content location amendments coming soon!

That's going to take some getting used to (moving Quizzes and Games I mean) as I'm used to where it was, but I think it is a good change (though I don't really like change!)

I've only just got used to the last re-organisation!

Now... how can I stop the annoying pop up in the lower right corner telling me there is a re-organisation and that I have to read this page to find out about it........ when I have already read the page and marked it as read? It's popping up on nearly every other section I go into!

I can’t actually remember how it was laid out before, which may be a good thing!

I see the problem with that floating box, it keeps coming back for me too. I saw it the first time then it went as I browsed to another page and I didn’t know what it said. The old site had announcements at the top of each page but this doesn’t do that I don’t think

I was going to ask (on the now-closed "Forum Update" thread) what is the current "early hours of the morning" forum closedown to enable the daily updating to take place. Is it too late for the forum staff to answer this query, please?

The box only appears in that Category and can be closed by clicking on the X in the top right corner.

They are all various options to display the Notice.

I don’t know if it still happens? If it does then it’d be the same.

Errr... Mojo... it appeared for me on practically every section and re-appeared several times after I had clicked the X on it... On two separate visits to the forum yesterday.

Haven't seen it this morning so far, though.

It definitely doesn’t appear in every section, just the new category.

There is a brief 'closedown' at around 2AM however it usually last for less than 2 minutes in my experience so you may not be aware if you don't request a page during that time.

I have the feeling it was after 0330 hours on the vBulletin previous model used, as I am often up and around at that time and used the "closedown" to make a good strong cup of coffee. Still, thanks for this new information.

Watch this space for some other content location amendments coming soon!

And here is your update, we have slightly adjusted the content in 2 of our forums, which are now:

Memorabilia, Media & Publications
This section will now include all media items, such as TV Programmes, Films, DVDs, Magazines and Books.

Modelling, Simulations & Games
This section will now include Modelling, recognising the convergence of these areas and their common 'run a railway at home' theme. We are also removing the prefixes in this section as they are somewhat of an anomaly on the site.

This concludes our amendments to the Forum's structure at this time.

At first when I couldn't see the buses forum in its old place, I thought that it too had been a victim of council cuts :D

Again: very nice! A media section is sensible and does serve to give television programmes a bit more prominence.

I never noticed until I got the notification in the bottom right. Then again I do pretty much browse exclusively by new posts (major thanks for removing the delay between searches too)

The Memorabilia section comes under the new category.

Yes - but I had already been in there on three separate forum visits since it was structured as it is now; is the pop up supposed to persist after the first visit like that?

Edited to add: Just looked in there again and it's still popping up now.

That's odd, it only popped up the once for me in each section. I just went to Memorabilia and nothing popped up this time.

The Memoribilia forum had another notice added Monday, for people who are confused about where the Modelling stuff has gone to. The message will persist until it dismissed by clicking on the cross.

Do you have cookies turned off or something?

No - and I haven't cleared them manually either ( because that's what causes me to have to re-set everything ).

It does seem to have stopped popping up this evening, thankfully!
