And it looks like there is something coming the other way tomorrow:

0S04 0810 Loughborough Brush to Craigentinny T.&R.S.M.D

43033 & 43148 were the power cars to work their way back to Craigentinny from Loughborough today: https://www.flickr.com/photos/crofty136/26369112898

Have to say, I personally think that this looks fantastic. Not to everyone's tastes, but certainly an eye-catching livery!

They certainly look the part! Nicest looking HST livery since the GNER days for my money.

Is Scotrail saying they link 7 big cities in the country?
Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow - there's nothing to say the cities have to be big :)

Like it, but if they'd listened to me they would have returned the front ends to their original 1970s yellow-blue-yellow scheme running back into the graphic without any difficulty whatsoever. I still think that anything other than those definite horizontal lines makes the power cars look more upright and less streamlined than originally envisaged.

Anyway, a minor gripe. I agree that it's the best HST getup since GNER.

Actually the "new" GWR livery is the best getup since GNER but of course it wasn't rolled out to all the HST fleet so the GW HSTs have to end their careers in the indignity of the dreadful FGW livery.

“Indignity”? It’s a lump of metal. It doesn’t have feelings. Get a grip.....

Where HSTs Still Scream. Kind of.
That looks even sexier than the EMT one that emerged yesterday.

Can't wait to see the stock they couple it with. All you have to do is keep it simple and you've got a thoroughly elegant livery, fitting for these grand old girls' twilight years.

I get a feeling the Mk. 3s are going to come out looking similar to the HST prototype silver and blue? It'd be fitting for it to come full circle given these are likely to be the last left on the network, EMT heel-dragging not permitting.

That livery would have looked so much better on a fleet of 68s...
