Can you be more specific? Do you mean all the 32xx sets or just the three sets that SNCF used that were not in the international pool?

Hi,

I was talking about the 373s recently when the NOL sets came up it was said that they are still in store in France. Of the 3 three capital sets that were SNCF owned on domestic routes two have been scrapped or are close to it (derelict) and one was acquired by Eurostar and is in cross channel service as an E300 set.

Regards,

I have the following status for them:
Eurostar owned sets
- being retained longer-term by Eurostar and refurbished: 3205/06/09-12/19-22/29/30*
- in traffic but to be withdrawn on completion of overhaul programme: 3213-18/23/24
- scrapped at EMR, Kingsbury: 3231/32 + power car 3732070
- withdrawn awaiting scrapping: 3201/02/08 + intermediate coaches from 3207

SNCF owned sets
- withdrawn awaiting scrapping: 3203/04/25-28*

* Note than an ownership swap has taken place, with the intermediate vehicles from set 3203/04 having been refurbished and mated with the power cars from 3211/12. This is a permanent reformation.

Any Brussels services still going to be operated by a 373 this summer?

The only certainty is that for now only the 373 sets can work the south of France Services, and only the 374s will ever work to Amsterdam.

However, I seem to remember hearing that the plan is for the remaining 373 sets to work the Brussels services, presumably so that the higher capacity 374 sets can be used on the more popular Paris route. So I think it's safe to say the answer is yes.

A small trick I found with working out what is booked a 373 or a 374. Use Loco2 for this.

Search up several journeys from London to Paris/Brussels and vice versa respectively, select standard premier, add to basket, then click on the view times and seats. If you're in coaches 1, 2, 3, 14, 15, 16 then the service is booked to be a 374, or if you get coaches 7-12 it's booked to be a 373. But don't rely too much on it as set swaps can be done on the day.

3001/3002 reported elsewhere as the doomed sets this time.

Ah no. This is gonna be a sad one. I really hoped the pioneer 3001/3002 would survive, but I haven't seen it in service for at least 2 months so I guess this was why :(

I was also hoping it was one of the final sets to be refurbished but I guess not :frown:

There won't be another move for a few weeks, but it has already been reported elsewhere that 3201/3202 is the next set to go.

Also reported elsewhere that 3017/3018, the heavily vandalised set in "secure" storage, has been cut up on site in Valenciennes, and that Thalys are looking at taking on two of the remaining unrefurbished sets to use as parts donors for their own fleet.

It is indeed 3001/3002. 3002 at the buffer stops end of the platform.

Even the depot staff had to mark the occasion.

What would Thalys do with E* trains ? PBKA and TMST have almost nothing in common...

Thalys also operate a fleet of TGV Reseaus, which possibly have more commonality with the 373s? They'd only be used as a source of spare parts anyway; 373s wouldn't be of any use to Thalys for passenger services as they can't operate in either The Netherlands or Germany.

I was a bit confused when I read about it myself...

Another forum. Not sure how reliable the info is, but it's probably not worth travelling out to France if there's a good chance it's gone.
