By mid-2020? With all these delays at this point the 72 stocks will be running until they are 55 years old (60 if you count them being closely derived from the 67 stock design).

Should I be shocked by the lack of inclusion of Bombardier? ;)

I did read back in 2013 that they were set to reach their diamond anniversary!

That's the one. I always thought it was bombardier, but I do much prefer this design to the Siemens mockup.

What inspiration do you think that took from the 1938 stock? I can't see any real similarity.

The windows and doors look quite similar (bar the pocket) as both designs have a lack of rounded windows on them.

Well, it would be pretty cool to see. I do hope there ends up being a full preserved set as it's a design that's been used in a lot of the trains London Underground have used over the years (67, 72Mk1, 72Mk2, 73, 83 (with single leaf doors and a more similar look to the D stock). All these trains at some point have run on the Victoria (67), Northern (72Mk1), Jubilee (72Mk2 and 83), Bakerloo (72Mk2), Piccadilly (73) and Central (67 test runs at the east end).

Am I reading correctly that the contract will be released on the 31st May 2018 according to that document, including the chosen manufacturer?

There are three tenderers left in the race: a consortium of Bombardier and Hitachi, and Alstom and Siemens. As most folk know, I think, Alstom and Siemens have announced their intention to merge their railway interests

I was referring to signalling, not rolling stock.

No 1967 Stock cars are used.

I remember seeing a NDM with a Victoria Line Blue grab rail though, but now the refurb is done this is probably gone. It was on 3438, is this a coincidence? But if it’s a NDM it must be 72MK1, right?

Indeed, many refurbished 1967/1972 parts were interchangeable - air vent handles, grab-poles etc found their way onto other Stock.

I see, I believe 3538 has had lots of parts from other trains, of course the NDM has the grab pole, but I think it has the DM cab from 3511 (unit at Hainaut). I’d be interested to see which moquette is in the cab, as it’s almost certainly not going to be Barman.

Bakerloo has a few sets that are modified 72 MkI's, rather than 72 MkII's.

Yes, I think they are 3264 to 3267 and 3564 to 3567, correct me if I’m wrong. And many units have had damaged cabs repaired with cabs from MK1 trains. For example unit 3244 has been repaired with a MK1/1967 cab as you can see the MK1 number box in the door (albeit painted to match the door) and there are a few more too like 3538.
