I received an email to inving me to the next stage, what are the assessments? Anyone done them yet? Do these count as a "go" or are they just something this TOC does?

Almost all trainee driver vacancies do state that they may close the recruitment drive early if they receive sufficient numbers of suitable applicants. It's good practice to make time within a day or two of role being posted, to sit down for a couple of hours uninterrupted and do it.

This is most definitely one of your two lives and should be taken super seriously. Aswest midland grade at the enhanced standard, even if you have successfully completed trainee driver assessment, you may have to sit some or all of the parts to bring your scores up to the required standard. If you fail to even meet the national standard upon retaking the tests, one of your lives has been lost.

Friend has been invited to sit online assessment. I wasn't required to do one myself. Anyone have an idea what that consists of.? Is it similar to situational judgement test?

I would disagree with you there. Online tests/assessments aren't part of your two lives. Whilst it should be taken seriously, if you don't pass them it doesn't have a bearing on the OPC tests.

Yeah I've received the 6 too!
I'll have to free up an hour or two to do them later on or tomorrow - can anyone comment on what the entail? Math? English? Behaviour?

Yes I agree with this. I think it’s just physcometrics that would count towards a life.

I was actually referring to the person who said they had been invited to attend assessments and asked of that counts towards their chances

The online assessment is quite straight forward. They give you a scenario and then 3 options of what you might do in that scenario. There are 19 questions and you have 30 minutes to complete, however, once answered you can't go back if you change your mind after!

So it wouldn't be a "life" then?

Just the one test. Not sure if this is counting as a life or not tbh. Seems like they are testing your judgement in any given scenario so I wouldn't just click my way through and hope for the best!

Yes it definitely won’t be a life it’s just a sifting process. The life will be if you get as far as the physcometrics.

Cheers for all your info. Was it railway/driver related or just generic everyday situations?

It was quite odd. Some were asking you things as if you are a driver, but then they were customer service focused, some were safety focused. I think just give it your best shot, don't over think it either otherwise you could run out of time quite easily.

Cheers for that info. Think I'll tackle it tomorrow as I'm on a 12 hour shift today :|

The online assessment consists of questions to do with a particular scenario, and you are offered multiple answers. Selecting only one answer, of course, depending on which answer you think suits the scenario the best.

I received two duplicate emails this morning, about a minute after the first one was sent. I selected the most recent one even though they both looked identical.

Good luck everyone!

Congratulations on passing the paper sift and best of luck with the test. Any chance when you fire up the 'old girl' laptop you could find the competency questions?

Appreciate you told us what they were in an earlier post but would really appreciate the questions. It's pedantic I know but you know what competency questions are like. You can right up a question but then the question can be so specific that your pre prepared answer does not match and then you end up having to re-write it.

That's probably the first online assessment I've taken where you can save your progress and come back to it (though they recommend you don't).
It's untimed but they say 30 minutes as a guide. I did it in a lot less though - you can easily start over thinking the qtn whereas I'd rather commit to my answer and move on.

One of the most interesting & thought provoking tests I've done in this style - a lot of questions where I was pretty stuck between two responses!

Tubes - I have sent you a PM chap :)

SJT completed, wasn’t too bad I thought, so will have to wait and see.

Recommend time to complete the test is 30 mins but you can take as long as you like, just can’t go back to answers but you can log out and resume where you left off, my advice is just do it in a oner.

Good luck all

Just got an email saying i've passed the online assessment. Now they'll screen applications against the competency qtns we answered on the initial application form which will take 6-8 weeks.
