Comes to mind, a long-ago girlfriend of mine who was from south-west Wales. In those parts at one time, we chanced to pass (by road) through Boncath, once on the Whitland -- Cardigan branch line. Latching on to one of the few Welsh words I knew, I enquired whimsically whether the name meant "good cat". She didn't always appreciate my feeble attempts at humour; and just answered rather wearily, "no, it doesn't".
