Peak times on ScotRail

I've been trying to find out what times are considered peak times on trains leaving Edinburgh Waverley. But the only info I can find is that after 9.15am is considered off peak.

I've been trying to find out what times are considered peak times on trains leaving Edinburgh Waverley. But the only info I can find is that after 9.15am is considered off peak.

Scotrail don't restrict cyclists during any period and cycles are welcome on any Scotrail service.

However some routes are very popular with cyclists and therefore they have introduced mandatory reservations requirements (at all times of the day) on the following routes:

1. Glasgow and Edinburgh to Aberdeen.
2. Glasgow and Edinburgh to Inverness.
3. Aberdeen to Inverness.
4. Glasgow to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig.
5. Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, Wick and Thurso.
6. Newcastle and Glasgow to Stranraer.

I'm just trying to find out if an off-peak ticket is valid on the Fife circle loco hauled train, which leaves Waverley at 17:08 on weekdays.

I have just reread your post and have no idea where I got bikes from either!!

As far as I can tell, all Off Peak Day Return tickets on the Fife Circle do have evening peak restrictions as follows:

Passengers MAY NOT JOIN at Edinburgh or Haymarket Mondays to Fridays any service departing between 1645 and 1807 nor the 1830 (NXEC) service from Edinburgh to Aberdeen

So the 1708 Fife Circle 67 would be included in that evening peak restriction and therefore you will have to purchase an SDR.

If you are trying to keep costs low, you may wish to use a technique previously discussed in another thread (http://railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=24760&highlight=rosyth) regarding the route and that is purchasing a return ticket to the first stop on the Fife Circle, Rosyth. You would travel on a direct train on your outward portion to Rosyth and then would immediately switch to your return portion once leaving Rosyth and then would be travelling on a direct train to Edinburgh (direct trains are always valid as stated in the National Rail Conditions of Carriage).
