Hi all,

I've had a look around but can't seem to find what i'm looking for....

Planning a trip to Falmouth on a Thursday in August (Probably 16th) and I was hoping for a HST from Burton/Tamworth down to PLY. I'm just wondering if anything has changed with the diagrams for this, as looking through the forum, the XC post is only valid until May 2018 and with Derby being closed for upgrades I did wonder if anything had altered. The XC timetable doesn't give much away!

Also the return leg on the following Monday shows 2 departures from PLY - do these still stand? I'm using a Freedom of South West 3 in 7 pass for most of the journey but want to book the BUT or TAM leg to Cheltenham soon!

Cheers

Best to check with CrossCountry on Facebook or Twitter in the morning on that one. However I believe the 07:38 from Burton-on-Trent (therefore 07:50 from Tamworth) should be a HST as it forms the 12:25 from Plymouth to Edinburgh which is normally a HST - the 12:25 normally terminates at Glasgow Central but isn't doing whilst the works at Derby are. Still not sure why though.

But note that dreaded experience of a Voyager substituting for a HST can happen incase you see this at the last minute.

Thanks for this - I was actually thinking of the 1039 departure (1050 from Tam) - I think it's this one I used before when I went last summer. I stopped for an hour in Bristol Temple Meads, and an hour later got another XC HST to continue the journey South.

Thanks for this info - I don't think I can get this early though, as the ticket only valid for off peak - hence the 1039 being a good one

Looks like the 1136 off burton is a HST to maintain the 1625 Plymouth to York

Because the journey times are extended by 30 minutes between Burton and Chesterfield. This means the Scotland to south west becomes Newcastle to south west while the works is on (and Scotland to reading/Southampton). The 1603 ex BHM will pick up the path of the 1630 ex BHM after Chesterfield which is the Edinburgh service normally from Southampton.

Only while Derby remodelling is taking place. Everything will go back to the current timetable after the 7th October.

Interesting been a while since scottish services to Bournemouth

Does anyone have the full diagrams for this period please?

I heard the 0700 Edinburgh - Plymouth and 1625 return working to York were booked HST, but the seating plan on the XC website shows this as a Voyager for Friday 3rd. I'm hoping the seating plans are wrong (as I know they can be!)

Does anyone have any idea which morning southbound departure from Derby will be a HST during the diversion via Gloucester and Newport in September. I’m travelling down from Derby to Plymouth on Wednesday 19th September and was intending getting the 10.28 off Derby which would normally be a a HST. I see that this train is just running between Newcastle and Exeter so I did wonder.

I think it would be unlikely to be a hst as the 1030 hst is an hour later at the moment taking the 1128 path after Burton and the 1053 path before Chesterfield.

HSTs should be the 0727 (1V44), 0828 (1V46) and 1129 (1V52) from Derby.

Hi, was just going to say I think the HST is an hour later (around 1136?) as i'm planning that trip to Plymouth on Thursday.

The previous hour currently showing as a Voyager on Real Train Times

Thanks that’s great. 1127 from Derby will be even better for me than 1028.

Just seen the other posts. I’m going on 19th Sept when XC are back running through Derby. It’s Bristol Parkway where there’s a blockade and all trains diverted via the Severn Tunnel and Newport.

I’m actually travelling from Hucknall in Nottinghamshire down to Plymouth and so will be able to get an Off Peak Return from Hucknall to Cheltenham which is quite reasonable with a railcard at just over £30. I’m spending 8 nights in Plymouth and wanting to travel about a bit so will then get an 8 in 15 days South West Rover to cover the rest of the journey from Cheltenham. If it does turn out to be the 1028 it will have to be tram into Nottingham and then Off Peak Return to Cheltenham from there.

I wanted the HST because I hate travelling long distances on crowded voyagers when I’ve got luggage. At least on the way back the 0925 voyager starts from Plymouth and so I should be able to find a reasonable seat and space for my case.
