Hi there, is there any suggestion about the rail app to download on phone to check rail schedule please? I am new to UK and soon will be visiting London.

Thanks

Thank you Matt for very quick reply.:) I will be doing some travel to Southampton central station too.. so Citymapper will be useful there too?

Thanks
Unfortunately not. It will show trains going to london from the station and it shows the time of some buses but it will be hit and miss on weather the data set is complete for areas outside london.

Real time trains, it shows your nearest station and departures over next hour. National rail is OK but a bit more difficult to navigate

For someone who is new to the UK, I'd say RTT is less user friendly, whereas National Rail enquiries lets you put an origin and destination and it'll give you trains that you want. You also have fares included on NRE.

I would agree. RTT includes a lot of extra information and things that may confuse someone who hasn't spent a few days getting to know its system.

Departures is very good for a quick update on immediate travel. It uses your location to work out the nearest station so no faffing around entering stations and departure times.

How do you download this APP please? As far as I can see the APP is no longer on the iOS APP store.

Oh I tried that link many months ago! The link (to the App Store) doesn't work. Seems there was a small window of opportunity to obtain the APP which is now closed
You could just use the website as I find it works perfectly fine on mobile without needing an app?

Ah yes I do and agree that it is very usable that way. [My post was really about how forum members should provide useful information, without myself sounding negative if you get my drift...]

Same here - I have a link that mimics an App on my Android phone, not sure if you can do that on Apple.
I've done the same. I've set a bookmark on my home page that'll take me to all trains passing my local station in the Around Now time mode, so I just have to do one click.

National Rail [Enquiries] is the "bible" of the rail network being the official public face of the Rail Delivery Group.
