Three months now since I applied. No word at all from Northern regarding any progress, except around a month ago when I received an automated email about starting the sift.

Sounds like it's not just me, but this really is becoming ridiculous. The position was for a September start, at this rate most of us will probably struggle with working notice periods in our current jobs in time.

Well its the same for me with the Leeds vacancy. I suspect with all the timetabling troubles at Northern recently there will be delays to all the starting dates

Ah good, I put in for the original advert for September rather than the second advert for May. Not heard anything myself and my application status still says new application submitted. Fingers crossed but if it's not to be I'll try again next time. Good luck with your interview, hope it goes well!

Hi, I applied for the 2018/122 September and was told the sift process had started a few months back that it all. After reading your message I have just rang them and they said no further updates at all,lol

By invites not being sent out yet do you mean that there still is hope I could be awaiting one? lol

Yeah, just still new application submitted. And no upcoming appointments etc when I click the calendar icon.

What’s annoying about this is when they tell you there is no further update when there clearly is as someone has been offered an interview.

Imagine being qualified driver looking to move, have passed everything but yet in a talent pool whilst further recruiting is happening and the business are in a pickle staff wise. That's the situation a friend is in and has just been offered a position elsewhere so had to revoke his application.

Just an update passed the I/V through to next stage. I did ask about the Y2018/ 118 and was told that that vacancy is no longer being processed due to a change terms and conditions regarding salaries. Hope this helps.

Well done on getting through and good luck with the assessments. Thanks for that update as well, that's the one I applied for and annoyingly that still says new application submitted even now.

I've just checked, mine is still new application submitted.

I emailed earlier today just for a check up. Last time I heard anything was around 20th June saying sift had started. My email reply from Northern this afternoon says sift is still ongoing.

My advice would be;

Research the company, have a couple of different scenarios for each of the points on the help sheet. Have a good understanding of the job, company and role. Try not to be nervous, go in confident and own it!!

that was what happened to me I was called however , when I called back heard nothing then took job elsewhere very unprofessional on Northern part in my opinion , the call was regarding offering me a position so then why not reply very strange
