It gets worse ...

Fort William 0 Inverness CT U19's 16 (North of Scotland Cup)
It's odd that Fort William are the perennial whipping-boys of Highland football really. In terms of potential fan base they should be one of the stronger sides in the Highland League, and ought to be a match for several League One and Two sides.

They're a relatively new entity and slap bang in the middle of shinty country though, and probably couldn't be more poorly located for attracting would-be players. I suspect most of their squad travel in from the likes of Inverness and Perth, and there's plenty of lower and non-league teams around there they could just as easily play for. They've been really close to folding on more than one occasion, including this summer, after their whole board resigned a few months ago.

There's an interesting article on them here which I read earlier this year, which explains their plight: https://peterrmiles.wordpress.com/2018/04/15/the-struggle-within-fort-william-f-c/

Oldham 1-2 MK Dons

Disappointed start to season for Oldham as two early goals for Milton Keynes was enough to beat us.

I see a lot of pundits are predicted Oldham to finishes in bottom 2 in League two division this season but I feel they do lot better than people think they will and maybe end up finishes in play offs come end of season.

My bunch of stiffs scraped past 9-men Yeovil one-nil. Better start looking up where Alfreton is, this is gonna be a long hard season.

Good 1-0 win for us away at Shrewsbury.

Still have us down to get relegated though. Chairman's an idiot.
Hope you don't, I've backed you for promotion. Admittedly mostly because of the ex-Terrier in the dugout and several one, plus a loanee on the pitch! Sean Scannell will rip that league apart if he can stay fit.

I hope we don't too!

But our chairman is an absolute weapon- which is why nobody would work with him- so it's going to be a fun season. Great if it works, but if it doesn't, Leyton Orient here we come.

That said, if we can get Billy Sharp (as rumoured) I'll take most of that back!

sigh. Bradford & Shrewsbury. Two teams we played in a regular basis :( Always hits home when the season starts and we are playing Curzon Ashton not Crewe.

( that is what bent owners do to you)

Bradford City, Shrewsbury Town, Darlington. All teams we're used to playing regularly (and some day will be again). Definitely hit home when we were beating Manchester United at home, or keeping a clean sheet at the Etihad on the day they were being presented with the trophy. Football is a fickle mistress who can be just as benevolent as she is cruel.

Though it helps if you have an owner who is also a fan, who stood on the terraces before moving into the boardroom.

I remember Neil Maddison scoring for Darlo form almost the half way line at Huddersfield. I think it was February 2003/4 and we won 2-0 with Ian Clark getting the other from the spot. In typical Darlo style this was our first away win.

The last one I can remember is a Johnstones Paint Trophy game that ended 1-0 to Darlo through a header from current assistant manager Alan White. Town had a man sent off i think.

We have about 1500 owners. All fans, all skint LOL

Leeds 3 Stoke 1

Happy to get the season off to a winning start against the bookies favourites. Great intensity from our players and a fantastic team performance. Hopefully we can keep that up. Brilliant atmosphere too, and credit to Stoke for selling out the away end.

Has this new boss changed your style? He's a mate of Pep's so if the other Championship clubs struggle with his way of playing, I can see Leeds being the bookies favourites by the Autumn.

He hasn’t changed it, but he’s perfected it. Our manager at the start of last season tried the same way of playing. The difference now is fitness, discipline, drill, coaching and motivation. It was basically the same team as last season but we looked a world apart.

However, it is only one game so we can’t get carried away. It worked well at the start of last season but then fizzled out. That kind of energy for 45 games plus cup matches is a big ask. Teams will also adapt and we struggled against physical teams last season so we need to see how we do against them.

The biggest change is probably cultural, which sounds bizarre but the fans were positive and had belief from the 1st minute today and did nothing but vociferously support and encourage.

Oh definitely, we saw that when we were in the Premier League beating Arsenal and Chelsea and you were getting relegated to league two. Times change so quickly. Enjoy it while you can!

Even L666s might be on the way back up under Bielsa, which is just wrong on every single level

Speenymoor 2 v Darlo 2

Darlo chucked away three points by conceding in stoppage time of Spennymoors cup final. A result I would have taken at kick off but one that was disappointing at full time! A much better performance than Saturday.

Darlington are still in the same league as Bradford and the two teams will meet on the 30th of October! #wearebradford

I hope you don't have to wait as long as we have to get back into the Football League. It's been almost 50 years since our last derby against our Manningham neighbours, leaving us 21-20 ahead with 11 draws.

I have spent some time thinking about football and arrived at these conclusions.

Any team that features ' Hi Ho Silver Lining' in their pre-match build up should be automatically relegated one division.

''Liquidator" by Harry J and the All Stars gets you a two division drop.

I look forward to a civilised debate.

Agree wholeheartedly on the first, I'm afraid I don't know the second by name!

Wolves have used both. So that's a three division drop for them.
