Car-park at Newquay station shut off for the week to be used as a queuing system.

Will try and keep real time updates on this thread with the services over the next few days. Also to mention there is currently no path for 1Z32 1118 London Paddington - Newquay on Thurday 9th however this is definitely booked to run on this day (as well as Wednesday 8 as mentioned).

1Z30 / 5C92 worked by 43154 - 43041. 5C92 originally booked to work 1C92 to Penzance but owing to a track circuit failure near Castle Cary, it formed 5C93 out of Pad instead.

1Z31 / 1A96 worked by 43171 - 43042. 1A96 diverted via Bristol owing to the track circuit failure at Cary.

1Z32 / 5Z58 worked by 43017 - 43004.

1Z33 / 5Z53 worked by 43190 - 43172. Was heavily delayed at Cary owing to the track circuit failure and ended up 93L at Taunton. Eventually 80L at Exeter and 39L at Plymouth due to its dwell time before arriving Newquay 26L. Short turn-round time meant that 5Z53 to St Phillips Marsh left 25L, delaying 2N12 at Goonbarrow.

2N03 / 2N03 and 2N12 / 2N13 worked by 150261. Between workings, it was stabled in Par Liner Siding before working to Penzance and back (which would usually originate at Newquay). 2N12: 19L at Goonbarrow owing to the late running of 5Z53 before arriving Newquay 15L. Return was 10L at Newquay and 6L at Par.

Exact same workings today until Friday where two of the additional services run instead of four.

Some changes to next Monday's timetable. 5Z42 ECS to Newquay now to start at Exeter instead of Plymouth. 1Z43 will now be formed off of 2Z43, which is in service but still express (calling at Par along the way only).

Plenty of sniffer dogs awaiting the arrivals at Newquay too. Was like an early Christmas for them :lol:

I find it amazing GWR is able to cover the event on this scale given the recent difficulties it has had with rolling stock and driver shortages. What other TOC is able to run so many extra trains over a 300 mile route?

With more 800s coming into service, there have been enough to cover enough HST work I guess. 800s have been covering a lot more work because of these HSTs being used for Boardmasters.

Plus with Boardmasters being a known big event they've had plenty of time to work up paths and rosters?

Yes, with a few short formations I notice. However with some exceptions you can probably get away with that mid week at this time of year.

1Z30 / 5C92 worked by 43017 - 43004. 5C92 caped at Newton Abbot with the set then being swapped to work 1A90 1454 Paignton - London Paddington from Newton Abbot onwards. Reason for this being that 1C77 to Paignton failed and arrived Newton Abbot 44L. Set was taken out of service and went 5C77 to Laira.

1Z31 / 1A96 worked by 43129 - 43197. 1A96 diverted via Bristol once again (same happened yesterday). I'm not too sure why.

1Z32 / 5Z58 worked by 43137 - 43176.

1Z33 / 5Z53 worked by 43155 - 43136. 5Z53 last reported at Whiteball at 2311, running 10L.

2N02 / 2N03 and 2N12 / 2N13 worked by 150266.

Tomorrow, two of the four specials run. From then the timetable is WTT until Monday.

1Z30 / 5C92 worked by 43188 - 43131. 5C92 caped from Newquay with the set instead working 1Z92 (in service) to Plymouth, calling at Par and Plymouth. 5C92 then restarted at Plymouth with the same set and arrived London Paddington 21L.

1Z31 / 1A96 worked by 43009 - 43159.

2N02 / 2N03, 2N08 / 2N09, 2N10 / 2N11 and 2N12 / 2N13 worked by 150233.

I get the impression that while people using the intermediate stations/halts on the branch are well catered for by RRBs, "ordinary" passengers to and from Newquay have been somewhat neglected, particularly on Monday.

I'm a local to Newquay so this effects me so I see what you mean. I'm using today to travel as it's all the Sunday WTT.

One of our boys is at the festival (his first ever) and wishes he could escape now but his ticket’s only valid tomorrow.
Nothing like a soggy weekend in a damp tent to put you off this kind of thing.
