The end is nigh...
.
So it is. I have just realised that the 800/802's now cover all of the GWR network in passenger service. (This excludes Newquay and Pembroke Dock extensions). I know Hereford doesn't have any 800's at the moment.

Hereford does! Most of the weekend diagrams are 800s

More class 800 short forms today - I've just witnessed about 50 people unable to join an already packed 5 car unit (should have been a 10 car) at a GWR station. Is there any end in sight to this?

When all the 800s are delivered

Ultimately yes I agree, but the fact that GWR are stating on JourneyCheck that some services will "be formed of 5 coaches rather than 10" implies that they believe they have enough sets to diagram two units on these services. That implies to me that GWR are having issues with the sets they do have.

Not strictly GWR. Hitachi are having issues with making enough of them available for daily handover to GWR.

By October the majority of services from London to Cornwall will be Class 802’s if everything goes to plan.

You mean apart from it supposed to be being a ten coach train but it wasn't due to rolling stock availability? If it had been booked five car you may have a point but as it wasn't you'll forgive me but this seems nothing like Operation Princess.

What on earth are you on about? Operation Princess was things like trains not turning up at all, or three services chasing each other in the same direction through a station in the space of 15 minutes due to a pile-up of problems. And deliberately running lots of short trains was part of the plan.

If Hitachi don't provide the number of Class 800 sets each morning that they are supposed to under the IEP contracts, GWR is a bit stuck and several five-car sets are still not ready for passenger traffic, so any faults are likely to cause a problem for availability.

Oh I didn't know that they were running through at weekends. Sort of lost track on what is happening in that area.

The first-ever Cotswold Line passenger service worked by a class 800 was a London-Hereford train on Sunday, December 31 last year.

I'm booked on the 1045 Paddington to Swansea on Wednesday.
Is this diagram now operated by the 800 class - RTT shows it as an HST but I found this diagram for the 800s earlier in the thread.

1A09 0712 Taunton - Paddington
1B25 1045 Paddington - Swansea
1L71 1429 Swansea - Paddington
1C25 1800 Paddington - Bristol Temple Meads
1A33 2030 Bristol Temple Meads - Paddington
1B94 2245 Paddington - Swansea

RTT doesn't show the booked stock*, all the 800s have a HST timing load

*Unless you work out the diagrams start and end depots

The ecs for the 07:12 ex Taunton arrives from Stoke Gifford so should be an 800.

I hoped it would be.
All I have to do now is find the restaurant end of the 800 in Paddington - I am assuming the early crew from Swansea (Eddy and his team) will work IB25 back to Swansea and serve brunch on the way.

Can confirm it is (booked) a 10 car IET Wednesday.

Pullman is usually done in the London end set from observation; but I must confess I can’t find any official paperwork to confirm either way.

EDIT: Mag_seven apologies I didn’t mean to quote your post, multi-quote system still playing up on my phone.

Been down the SW for the last week & the media have been speculating that 802s would launch today in public service but GWR quite rightly in my opinion would not confirm this deciding to go for the quiet introduction. I was lucky enough to be at Plymouth as the press special arrived Friday & just got off the Minehead bus at Taunton Station this morning at the duo departed heading West on the 0730 ex-Padd. Was very well loaded but with spare seats thanks to the additional capacity which was something my 1028 HST up road certainly did not have. I'd had enough by Westbury & bailed for the 1111 cl166 to Salisbury for a 159 into Waterloo.

Thanks JN14 Top Man - thats really useful info.
It's a special occasion so were off on the 1045 as far as Bristol Parkway. A few days in Bristol followed by dinner on the WAG Express from Cardiff to Chester on Friday. A gastronomic diy rail tour!
I've visited the Hitachi plant at Newton Wycliffe a couple of times so there's added interest in the 800.

Weekdays 0528 Hereford - Paddington has been an IET for a while and 1722 Paddington - Hereford / 2151 Hereford - Paddington is IET as of today
