London or Reading would work for me too.
Anyone in the Bristol/Cardiff/Cheltenham area interested?
+1 for me tooMost definitely in the Bristol area!
No. And no.It's all gone quiet...2 questions:
1. Have I missed something?
2. As a frequent reader but newbie poster, do I need to pass some kind of test to show I'm worthy?
Prizes for swiftest reply, clearest reply, and most concise reply are in the post sir.No. And no.
I'm near Exeter, happy to travel pretty much anywhere though south/mids easier than North/ScotlandWe do not currently have any upcoming fares workshops, except for a fares data workshop for anyone wanting to get the fares data in a SQL database. We might be able to accommodate one more for that; contact me directly if interested.
I'll create some more Doodles for regular fares workshops in due course; in the meantime it would be useful if anyone who is interested can state what sort of locations they can get to.
Keep the requests coming; I won't create the Doodles for a few more days or weeks yet but it's really useful to see where people are based so that we know which locations to hold the next ones at.
We can still accommodate one more person at an upcoming fares data workshop, if anyone has an interest in, or experience in, SQL databases, it would be good to hear from you. We can go through the steps required to import a copy of the fares database onto your own SQL database. Please contact me directly ASAP if this is of interest.
Yes, meAnyone in the Bristol/Cardiff/Cheltenham area interested?
A Fares Workshop is a free event (a forum meetup of a kind, if you like), where fares are discussed. In particular, people often share individual good-value fares they've found, and they share methods they've found for discovering good-value fares. It's aimed at anyone who's interested - though a basic background understanding of UK rail fares - i.e. what Anytime, Off-Peak etc. mean - is useful.By shear chance I’ve just found this.
Shrewsbury is local to me
Would you mind explaining what a ‘fares workshop’ is?
I’m very much an amateur train traveler but I do love getting cheap fares.
Best this year is Wem to Wick, via Aberdeen for £29, over two days.
Is this aimed at people who actually work in the industry or just general bargain hunters?
Many thanks

Both. We do vary the content to suit the attendees, and we run different themes so people can mix & match. Is this aimed at people who actually work in the industry or just general bargain hunters?
The Shrewsbury workshop is full, assuming @185143 or @Dai Corner are attending. If neither are, I can accommodate one more.
I see a 'Liz Carter' on the Doodle but I do not know what username that relates to.
