Damned channel five's playback facility has just crashed and has started playing crappy adverts all the time. A very low class outfit in general.

Sad to see the death on the train at reading. As someone who lived in China, they value the many over the few, so they would have just dragged him out of the train and let it continue. That fire alarm is like something out of James Bond lol.

I enjoyed this evenings episode because it seemed more technical than previous ones. I especially enjoyed the segment with the electrification crew at Newbury. Let’s hope this sets a more geeky tone for the reminder of the series.

Was it a subtitle error or did a train driver really say "pallograph" for "pantograph"?!

Good episode last night, particularly enjoyed the segment around Newbury.

The guy who jumped off platform 10 and ran into the station approach was a bizarre situation. Was it ever reported in the media as to what it was all about?

Didn't spot it was back, series link on Sky+ failed to pick it up despite having a 'next episode' entry that's been sitting in my planner since the previous episode aired. Got it downloaded and a recording for next Monday set up now.

After watching this weeks with the guy swearing and spitting at police when they tried to arrest him, I wonder what's the difference between "strong language" and "highly offensive language" as per the warning beforehand. At a guess I'd say it's because he used the c word, hence the latter warning, if he hadn't it would have been the former.

Unfortunately this week's episode ("Episode 13" on My5) has not appeared for streaming. :(

It was on last night when we watched it.
Yeah, worked for me too.

It’s weird how this is supposedly a continuation of a previous series and not a new series despite having a different intro sequence and having a fair gap since the last bundle of episodes were broadcast.

Is it still there for you now? I can only see up to 12 after clicking Load More. https://www.my5.tv/paddington-station-247/season-3

It's also weirdly listed as having only "Season 2" and "Season 3".

"Season 2" corresponds to TVDB's S01, "Season 3 Episodes 1-9 + Windsor" correspond to TVDB's S02, and the three new ones "Season 3 Episodes 11-13" are listed as S03E01 - S03E03 on TVDB.

It can be seen here on Episode Calendar, as they use the TVDB source data: https://episodecalendar.com/en/show/paddington-station-247

It was showing when I watched it (can't remember which day now) but has vanished again. This happened quite a bit with the first half of the season. I also encountered lots of issues where it would only show or play on one device. Invariably it would reappear after a few days though.

This new electrical equipment is really bad, they've had so many issues with it! They should sue the provider for all the shoddy equipment!

London, Surrey... bit of a blur round here...
On this evening's episode, there was an incident involving a HST whereby a driver got his platform wrong, and put his key into the rear cab of a train that was just pulling out of the station. This caused an emergency brake application as - from what I could tell - it made both cabs leading cabs and the train couldn't manage with that.

What I can't figure out is why the driver who made the mistake was setting up in the rear cab of what he thought was his train, not the front. Anybody able to shed any light on why the driver may have done this?

The driver has to sort out the rear engine and turn it on as it operates as well. He needs to set up the equipment for the return from the destination/if there is a reverse. For example, at Gloucester there is a 5-7 minute reverse time and setting up in that time wouldn’t be possible.

Not sure if its journalistic enrichment or what, but quite a few of the segments seem to make the staff look like numpties. Take last nights segment where sleepers had to be replaced. Surely on whatever paperwork is raised as a job sheet it would state the length of sleepers required, or it would be common practice to cut to length from stock sizes on site? The program does seem to make them look a tad incompetent at doing their jobs (having the wrong tool to release the break on the trolley was another prime example).

The relationship between the producers and the railway hasn’t been completely rosy - one of the cameraman’s actions in a recently broadcast segment saw them removed from where they had been filming and permission for those persons to be shown on-screen withdrawn. They interviewed some other staff involved in the incident in the end and used that; but it reminded those who were coordinating the filming of the series with the TV company that they’re first and foremost an entertainment business.

GWR put a formal complaint in with the producers over the way an incident at Bristol was edited together and some misleading narration.

There’s also been some amusing moments in “Route Control” where our cameraman has missed what’s been said and so asked colleagues to repeat themselves for the benefit of the camera. Nothing like trying to update an Incident Controller on an ongoing issue on one of our trains while he’s trying to do his 5th take on telling the Train Running Controller what happened 2 hours ago...

I see passengers demanding to be let on an overcrowded train, who would then probably complain it's dangerously overcrowded and get a 'our staff are trained to prevent boarding when trains get too crowded' response from GWR.
Can't win.

.

What did the cameraman do?
