Cool. Thanks for the update.
It ran but it didn't get to Plymouth.
Cross Country Journey check shows the 18:31 Birmingham New Street to Manchester and 20:05 return as HST's. The set is coming off the 14:23 from Exeter to Edinburgh at Birmingham and then later picking up the 22:03 from Birmingham to Leeds.
Sorry here but as lucky as it is for an HST to run to Manchester a 4th time, it would've been a far more sensible idea to use it on what was a longer trip and would've probably very packed 18:03 from Birmingham New Street to Edinburgh! I'd have thought the 22:03 from Birmingham New Street to Leeds would be fine for a 4-car Voyager if need be.
If the 18:03 was an HST then nothing to think about in this case.
Some alterations today with 1C09/1S47/1C99 HST Vice Voyager
1V46/1S53 Voyager vice HST
Oh and XC03 is out to play today on 1V50/1E63
What are you on about? It was only 1 Voyager replaced by a HST and one HST was replaced with a Voyager so no real gain.It must be the first time I've read 3 Voyager vice HST's - a situation where you can say 3 Voyagers have been replaced with a smile. That's one positive side of a sink hole !
I have no idea what this means to be honest! Perhaps you could clarify? It must be the first time I've read 3 Voyager vice HST's - a situation where you can say 3 Voyagers have been replaced with a smile. That's one positive side of a sink hole !
No worries . Basically, all because of a sink hole, it has meant passengers on XC routes who were possibly expecting a Voyager today have had a Voyager replaced with a service with a smile.
HST on 1S47 originally set off a wheelflat detector and was heavily delayed at Bristol being examined. It then set off another one later on and thus was pulled out of service failed at Newcastle.
No it wasn't. It's being turned at Newton Abbot due to late running.According to CrossCountry Journey Check, the HST working 1V54 06:32 Dundee - Plymouth has developed a fault and will be terminated at Newton Abbot. Does anyone know if this is the same set that's been taken out of service at Bromsgrove recently?

Really that's selfish of XC turning it round at Newton Abbot for 2 reasons...
1. Last train from Plymouth and Totnes to between Birmingham New Street and Leeds therefore cancelled.
2. Arriving at Plymouth around 17:40 would have meant they could leave at a not bad 6pm or something - therefore they couldn't be bothered to run it 2 extra stops.
3. The 18:25 from Plymouth to Birmingham I guess is a 4-car Voyager, so cancelling a 7-car train to avoid a further delay is just ridiculous, losing too many seats in the process.
I believe this was basically reported full and standing from Taunton. Those HST's must be loved by passengers!

It's nothing new XC do it quiet a bit at Newton Abbott...... Also EMT do it as well if a Liverpool Lime Street---Norwich--- Liverpool Lime Street service is running quiet late it will go roung Dore curve & miss out Sheffield..... Train companies that don't give to figs for its passengers....

Make a 35 late start from Plymouth and you're stuffed - a guaranteed missed path after getting through Bristol and Birmingham.Really that's selfish of XC turning it round at Newton Abbot for 2 reasons...
