Weekend First part upgrade

Hi all,
Does anybody know please is it possible to upgrade part of your journey to First Class at the weekend in say VT or LNER and spend the rest in Standard?
Or is it all or nothing...?

On SWR my experience has been varied. Some insist your upgrade must match the part of the journey covered by the ticket, some are happy to sell it starting later (after all you might only discover the existence of weekend first en-route), some are happy to sell to a specific point:you could after all be breaking your journey, taking an alternative route etc

SWR sell the Weekend 1st in zones, as far as I understand it, so its usually a case of checking on your journey where the zone might cover you on your journey
