Hello all,

Recently got my Network Railcard although I live in Wiltshire I hope it will come in handy for my weekend rail bashing trips and station scratching in the South East.

On the Saturday 22nd December I'm booked on Pathfinders Festive Frolic from either Basingstoke or Banbury and then off to London afterwards for the night (Northwood) to hopefully do a bit of rail bashing on Sunday.

So being a weekend I can use my Network Railcard on a Z1-6 Travelcard, but I assume I cannot get one at Northwood LUL station? Will I have to get one at Basingstoke the day before or even could I turn up at Trowbridge tomorrow and get a TC1-6 there for the 23rd December?

I tried searching this on Google but most of the replies I've seen are that you can only get a discount on a boundary zone ticket, yet on the Railcard site it specifically says you can get a Zone 1-6 Travelcard discount on weekends

Any help appreciated

James.

You can get a Railcard discounted Day Travelcard from LUL machines. There is a generic "National Railcard" option on the menu IIRC, but you can of course purchase it in advance.

Just beware that strikes are already announced on SWR for 22nd.

However it might be cheaper to get an outboundary travel card, assuming you're traveling home afterwards.

The idea is park at Banbury or Basingstoke where the tour is picking up, get a lift from Banbury to Northwood after the tour then get a Single Sunday evening. Banbury is looking likely as I hope to get the 1805 from MYB which may be a 68.

Was unaware the option was available on LUL machines thank you very much, and answered the question that I can buy a TC at any station.

Thank you very much!

You might find it cheaper to buy a Banbury - Zones 1-6 Travelcard, than a separate TC and single to Banbury
