I have read odd posts alluding to, but not linking to official sources of extra services using the Corby/Harringworth viaduct to get around engineering works on the Midland Main Line.

Is this true?
Any links to timetables or a Real Time Trains link?

It doesn't seem so. The Corby service becomes a Corby-Kettering shuttle over the festive period, everything else still goes via Market Harborough.

The published timetables (at the link above) shows the service from the north reversing at Kettering to terminate at Corby on New Year’s Eve, with the bus service running from Corby southwards.

Why would they be running the buses from Corby rather than Kettering? Adding 15mins to the train journey, and an additional 10mins onto the coach journey to Bedford seems rather odd.

The one day I didn't check, typical.

That is a weird timetable.

Makes no sense, the bus will probably use the A14 past Kettering as well...

Very odd, I wonder if access to Kettering station by road is restricted for some reason?

Corby station is much better laid out for interchange, but it's still odd.

Thanks for letting me know. I was planning on a bash in that area but I may put on hold doing a loop using Corby until normal train times resume.

I'd keep an eye out for diversions in the new year, especially on Sundays.
They're fairly regular now with the Market Harborough upgrade project.

I thought the special timetable was strange but it's perhaps a case of killing two birds with one stone. If the Corby shuttles are tagged onto services to/from the north, presumably it saves a separate diagram?

I also noticed there's quite a lengthy wait at Bedford from bus to train, up to half an hour in many cases.
Another thing is the last four or five trains from the north on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve have bus connections from Corby to Bedford but nothing south thereof, so I can't see them generating much usage.
