Who remembers the Rail Riders club, and of course their two locomotive, 47406 and 47488? Do you think Network Rail should look at restarting the club?

I have one of the badges still, but I think the mags went in the bin years ago. It seems that, looking at http://www.srpublicity.co.uk/brs/brs19.htm ) it survived until 1991 - I have no recollection of that new logo they introduced!
Anyone got any 'Sticker Station' stickers?
Sounds like the Rail Riders and Great Rail clubs were good value for money! If I could pay a £2.00 annual membership fee for £5.00 of RTVs per year, I'd still be a member if the club existed today! hock:SR Publicity page said:Membership cost £2 per annum and included ten 50p vouchers for rail travel.
Slight problem: it was only for kids, so you couldn't be a member todaySounds like the Rail Riders and Great Rail clubs were good value for money! If I could pay a £2.00 annual membership fee for £5.00 of RTVs per year, I'd still be a member if the club existed today! hock:
Officially no...But what's to stop me having a membership in my sons name, who happens to have been named after his father?Slight problem: it was only for kids, so you couldn't be a member today
I was also a Priv holder in my younger years, but I would've still gone for the vouchers.I remember the Rail Riders World model railway next to Tearoom Square at York station.
As a priv holder I don't think there was any benefit to joinng Rail Riders for me, but loads of other young enthusiasts did.

I admit that my beard is almost as long as the WCML, but even that can be hidden on the membership card using Photoshop!

Indeed; With a quarter-fare Priv, ye'd effectively be getting £20 of travel for that two-pound membership fee...Four times better value than that offered to public members!
Having never been a member of Rail Riders, I can't say for sure...But zooming in those images on the RR web page above (Right-click, "View image" in Firefox) I can't see anything to suggest that Priv holders are barred from using 'em!Were you allowed to use them to buy privelege tickets? I thought you couldn't.
