Hi. This is the first time I have done anything like this, so apologies if it is not to the high standards of some of the other threads.

I am splitting this into two groups. Sightings I have seen out and about in my taxi, mainly at Blackpool North. And, days out either on the train or in the car.

21 of November
This is a day out I had planned in the west midlands. The plan was to go BPN to Ormskirk. Get a Merseyrail day rover to Chester. Go to Crewe from Chester and buy a day ranger ticket.
However, the train to Ormskirk was a bus replacement, and the Crewe to Chester shuttle wasn't working either. So I went direct to Crewe, after my mate gave me a lift to Preston.
So at Preston.....
195107, 319262, 150275,150124, 350405, 390042, 319368, 156443, 156468, 88008, 390043, 350404, 158817, 90016+90041.

So onwards to Crewe on board 390135. I walked down the standard carriages.

08703 was stunting at Wigan Springs Branch.

66027 was at Warrington Arpley.

At Crewe....

Onwards to Brum on 350369...

I left the train at Lichfield Trent Valley low level and swapped to the high level, to get to new street. 350376 was in the low level and 323216 took me to Brum.
On the way I saw:-
323213 at rhinestone
323212 at Blake street
323219 at four oaks
323214 at Chester road
323210 at gravelly
323205+323208 At Aston
350262 and DR98904 passing curzon street

At new street the following were seen:-
350261, 323207, 323218, 170519

I then walked to Moor street.

165014 was stabled outside the station.

I then caught the train to Leamington Spa, which was:- 68008 with carriages and dvt:-
12606, 12619, 12609, 12610, 12627, 10274, 82302.

I left the train at Leamington to see 165022 stabled at the north bay platform. Then I jumped back on the train to Moor street:-
68011, 12616, 12605, 12614, 12607, 12608, 10271, 82304.

170515 and 170506 were seen at Tyseley.

So back at moor street, for a short while before onwards to stourbridge junction.

172335, 172220, 172340, 168109, 172221, 172217, 172213, 172341.
172334 took me to stourbridge. Tram 36 was seen on the way.
139001 was caught to stourbridge town. By now it was dark, rush hour and I was hungry!
Also seen were:-
172345, 172219, 172331

So back on 172334 back to Moor street. At moor street I saw:-
168108, 172342, 165022, 172336, 172337, 168002 (which I only needed one carriage for as it has been lengthened since I last saw it!)

I now walked back to new street for my tea.
Trams 30, 25, 32, and 33 were seen at various points when I went for a cigarette.
On the platforms I saw:-
323203, 350377, 221141, 350256, 221138, 220033, 350372, 158839, 170518, 170508, 153334, 350113, 170634, 350264, 323243, 43384, carriages 45002 + 41194.

Then I jumped on 390155 back to Preston.

There was a railfreight grey liveried 08 at I presume oxley, but I couldn't see it's number.

Crewe LNWR:- 150271

Warrington Bank Quay:- 175107

Wigan:- 319380

So back at Preston. I work nights so wasn't in a rush to get home, so I might as well see what's on the down highlands. It gets to Preston just before 0100. In the hope one of the two 92's I need is hauling it. I got to Preston at about 2200.
66434 was at the rear of a RHTT train but couldn't see what was at the other end.
I saw:-

68002+68004 with 92769 +92723

Yeah the bold numbers were winners. The day out was about getting 172's and at least one trip on a 68, so going on 2 was a bonus. I also wanted to go on the parry people mover. I'm off to Toton on Wednesday in the car, to see if I can get the 8 60's I need. And, maybe the 56 super shunter at dove holes.

My day out to Toton was a bit of a wash out. Couldn't have picked a worse day weather wise!

From discussions I'v read Toton can be like that - I'm toying with the idea of going sometime - but from South Wales it's a whole day and if the weather is rubbish as you found then it's a waste.

I think I'll leave it till the spring!

Anyway here is what I saw at Toton.
Duds:-
60078, 60053, 60005, 60031, 60023, 60083, 60088, 60050, 60027, 60025, 60060, 60086, 60065, 66170, 60035, 60034, 66154, 66145, 66102, 60051, 66077, 60058, 66102, 67005, 60067, 66160, 60042, 60074, 60008, 82148, 60012, 66108.

There were, however, a small number of winners:-
60089, 60003, 60004, 60032, 66039 and 66714.
Trucks:-
967510, 967519, 966110, 966219, 966246, 460378, 967567, 967635, 460691, 967535.

A trip was then made to Barrow Hill. Wish I'd checked the interweb first as it would have told me it was shut. But, would anyone know what the Pullman Obsevation Car was that was either being delivered or picked up from there on Wednesday? It was on the back of a low loader.

Friday 14th of December
A day out in Manchester to do the Christmas markets.
Blackpool North:-
319380, 390141, 156424+156459 We're caught to Manchester.

Preston:-
Track machines:- DR77907, DR73117 and DR73910 were stabled at the north end of the station.
319382 and 158815 were in the station.

Bolton:- 185144

At the bin place just outside Salford 66558 was stabled.

Manchester Oxford Road:- 158783+158889

Piccadilly:-
175102, 390002, 323234.

Onwards to the markets. Trams 3002, 3009 +3109 We're seen whilst wandering about. To be fair if I wanted to see overpriced tack, I could walk down Blackpool prom. The German hot dog was nice at the food stall. We then made our way to the Albert Schloss, which was rammed. So, next door but one is the Brewdog. 2 refreshing pints of IPA were consumed. Then we went to the Sir Ralph Abercrombie, where 3 more pints were consumed and a genie sold us a samosa each, very tasty. The Reinbeer was a nice pint.
We then stumbled to a place called The Cask. We sampled the 2 IPA's on offer there. They also do a range of Japanese whiskey's. No idea what they were called but 2 types were sampled. Btw, I've no idea what time it is by now!
So onwards to across the road the Brink, I think. One IPA in there and a scotch egg. By now we were thinking about being homeward bound. So outside Deansgate station, there is a pub. No idea what it is called, but a pint of something was had in there. No idea what it what was but it was a dark and had a chocolatey flavour.
Deansgate station was shut, so a stumble to Oxford Road. Still no idea what time it was, but 156428 and 158784 took us back to Blackpool. The joys of living at a terminus station, is the guard gives you a wake up call when you get there! I have no recolation of the journey home!
Taxi to the pub for a final pint with a couple of the operators from work then home to bed.
Happy Christmas

Those 195s are still out and about.

Agreed about being at the terminus, a reduced worry about falling asleep and ending up at somewhere random

Random can be good though. That's how I rolled on my last 7 day all lines rover a couple of years ago!

BTW, the same 195 has been stabled there the last 2 nights. It's stabled by the running lines out of Blackpool North.
