I had no idea the 6 had a low bridge on route.

The 2 could operate on a slightly lesser frequency with deckers around the clock.

The 66 and 6 are famous for the low bridge haha , noticed theres never geminis or tridents on the 6 except part routes ha

Could capacity have dropped on the 6? I mean I doubt it but can’t think why else this appears to be a regular occurrence. Would be nice to see the 6 get some new low height deckers.

6 is a busy route, caught the last 6 at midnight on Wednesday night and it was a busy stinking eclipse .Least a bus showed up. Need to refurbish the ellipses and geminis , seats are bogging.

Used to stay in Busby , few buses have got stuck , when Scotstoun done the 18 and before the A726 bypass as built , emptys coming back from EK .Seen a VO and Gemini parked up in station car park. Though its lorries that get stuck mostly , once a lorry shed its load of Lucozade and local residents could help themselves

Geminis are a bit taller so not surprising. As i say the new E400s should fit, but at the same time perhaps they don't want to risk it.

Its the going round the houses , Argyle St , Queen St , Ingram st and glassford st . If you get on a 6 at the top of the town and its busy it can take half an hour to get to St Enochs at busy times
Also doesn’t help that the council funnel every single vehicle heading south through the city centre down Renfield and Union streets and allow parking plus the lane restriction at Gordon street. Also, that bus gate at Nelson Mandela place pushes even more through Union-Argyle-Queen streets rather than just West George Street. Northbound is probably more sensible with West Campbell street being the route for most private traffic. Not really sure what the answer is though I do think some of the preferred bus routes are too congested, restricted and convoluted. Trongate to Hope Street being a case in point

Yeah a few buses got stuck . Yeah i think you would have a level of tolerance if there was a suspension problem and bus was higher

Hmmm. My main artic memories are of limited seats and horrible draughts from the concertina on Glasgow’s 9 and terrifying high-speed journeys on the 29 in London (Finsbury Park down towards Camden in the evenings) with the whole bus being jerked out of their seats as we hit potholes. Crush loading might work over very short distances, but otherwise give me a bus with seats. Artics are definitely not the solution to the Busby bridge – although back in the day when Scotstoun had them for the 9 there was a peak extra to Busby on the old 66. But expecting people to sit (or more likely stand) on an artic on journeys which are approaching an hour is just cruel!

Depends on design but you typically get around 60 seats, the draughts were likely down to poor maintenance, can't say i've seen that before myself, and i live on a route that hard Artics for quite a significant period of time. They're far from terrifying at high speed perhaps some exaggeration there, and the suspension is not that bad either, although some of the Glasgow B7LAs (especially 10148) were awful in the rear. Also i doubt passengers would be standing for an hour unless everyone gets on at one end and then off at the other (rarely the case).

The traffic commissioner wouldn’t be able to get another operator to operate the service this would be for the SPT however the problem here is Coakley still hold the registration for the service but are just not fulfilling it this I know is hindering any operator from taking on the service as there is definite interest in doing so.

A quick google search should give you contact details for the commissioner.

Thanks for the reply. Got the commissioner details now. I note she is being replaced soon.....

You say "there is definite interest in doing so" . Do you know who from ?

As a resident of Eaglesham, I am sick of the poor service provided by the First 4A, it is already a half hour service off peak and is regularly subject to cancellations, ref the recent posts about the Busby low bridge, surely a service could be setup from East Kilbride to Glasgow via Jackton and Eaglesham, this would have the additional benefit of providing an enhanced service from Eaglesham to East Kilbride as the existing 365 service from Uplawmoor to East Kilbride operated by McGills is infrequent and circuitous to say the least. There has been big housing developments in Jackton recently and I would have thought a direct service to Glasgow for this growing suburb would have been possible

My memories of the bendy’s were always fairly positive although I do remember having to stand on a few occasions when they operated the 62. If I remember correctly the B10LAs always outshone the B7LAs. It was always something exciting going on a bendy. It would be cool if Enviro made one then maybe first would consider it!!

Although I’m not sure how drivers feel about them going through the City Centre. Glasgow is too bendy for a bendy if you get me!!

You're not likely to get an answer due to commercial sensitivity, although I do recall seeing a post about First scouting the route when Coakley took them off. If anything, I can only see the 107 / 109 partially getting replaced, a full replacement isn't needed.

What are these for? The 242? It doesn’t need 11 and there are only 6/7 B10’s still to be replaced. Very modern fleet at Overtown now

Thanks. So what else will be leaving? The Streetlites have been arriving too from the 34, so there’s gonna be an excess up at Overtown now.

Aren’t there B7RLEs at Overtown? Perhaps they’ll be moving to Caley or Blantyre in order to let newer stock replace them.

Unsure as to what is leaving apart from the remaining 9 B10s and the Marshall dart 41416.

The streetlites from Caley are being swapped with B7RLEs

Thanks guys. That looks like 10 out and 11 in then with Streetlites replacing B7RLE’s. Makes sense if correct.

Surely more buses will be coming next year for the 34/34A. Don’t see the point in them introducing only 12 as there isn’t enough. Saw a mixture of B7RLEs, Streetlites and new E200s on the route.

Maybe in addition to the 6 as it would extend journey times .

I live not far from EK . The 395 stops early does it not , suprised it still runs out to Uplawnmoor. Thats the problem with EK , no bus services to the new estates or they are limited , i guess the people here depend on there car . Would hate to stay up lindsayfield and take bus every day to Glasgow . Not like the railway station has good bus links .

Has the 44 or 4 always been every 30 mins during the day ? Heck there was a night service to Eaglesham .

Yep was a bendy on the 66 just to Busby .
We do have it good in the UK for deckers as when i go to Europe you often find yourself standing on singles , and ttheres usually a few seats and they are often on awkwad bays of 4 or 2 over the wheel arches.

Could you please explain?

I take it you never read the link postage? I would suggest reading siad link ;)

The Scottish Green Bus Funding is actually 125 buses by March 2020. I know they say double deckers but they have got this wrong before. I wonder if this is the additional 50 they got this year, although it seems strange that the funding was not mentioned when they announced the 75 buses funding.

The majority of glaswegians rely on a car now, but not everybody travels from EK or eaglesham to glasgow.
