I maybe wrong but was it not 4 that were to be left in service in 2019, with all withdrawn by May 2019

With the 3 stored at Yoker, that would mean 11 in service, tho I suspect the 2 at Shields maybe stopped as well which would mean 9 diagrams left.
With only 2 (maybe 3) of the additional 320/4 delivered, that maybe delays the withdrawal slightly.
I suspect that we might see 1 or 2 x 385 4 cars delivered this week or the 3 final 4 car units (except the 2 in Italy)
They seem to be getting accepted into service pretty quickly so if 385 3 car units are delivered quickly in New yr we may see 314 going soon

By my reckoning on weekdays there are now 4 x 4 car class 380s on the Neilston route, 2 x 320 on the Newton/Cathcart routes which would leave only 2 x 314 on day time services?? Obviously the peak have more, particularly the six car workings.

Then there's 1 x 314 on the Canals during day, and 1, poss 2 on the Inverclyde lines? There's not that many about in consistent service now.

Once there's enough 385's to cover the GLQ/CUB/EDB service then we'll see a few more 380's and then the 314s will start being able to take their leave.

Changed days from when 314s were practically all you got on the Cathcart routes.

Tonight at 1650 Glasgow Central

There was 314209 in platform
13 for a Wemyss Bay

6 car 314 - Cathcart in 10 (207 front)
3 car 314 - Very front of platform 9

Passing Shields there was a 6 car 314 ready to depart Shields on departure road (with a 320/318 6 car waiting to come out to departure road)
(Also at least 3 or 4 365 units/158741)
There was also 2 x 3 car 314 stabled pan down

Still plenty of 314s running around the Circle and to Neilston/Newton at rush hour.

Currently awaiting to depart on 215. I must say pretty much all of my MUI-GLC trips this have week have been 380s. Can’t get used to that modern tannoy lady. Is she even real? enjoying the squeaks and open doors in the freezing cold as long as possible

Does anyone have the latest on the 314 fleet now we're the other side of xmas?

I'm in the area tomorrow and hoping 207 and 211 will be out, so any info on their current status would be particularly appreciated

A quick check of the fleet - Other than 204, 212 and 213 stored at Yoker, and 206 and 210 which are stopped at Shields Road, all other units are in traffic today.

314206 at Shields Road, last worked 23-11-18
314210 at Shields Road, last worked 11-12-18

The two you are looking for
314207 stables at Corkerhill tonight, after 2059 Paisley Gilmour Street to Glasgow Central
314211 stables at Corkerhill tonight, after 1928 Neilston to Glasgow Central

.

She's real. Her name is Fletcher Mathers and she is an actress.

That's very useful, thanks for the reply!

If anyone knows if they are in service today, any pointers on their wherabouts would be much appreciated.

Think we can take it that 206/210 have been stored at Shields, which means 11 active, so 9 units per day available for service with 2 on maintenance.

Have to say the PEP derived units have to be the Unsung Hero's of the Net work. They have put in sterling reliable service throughout their time. They didn't have the carisma of many other units and are now rapidly dissapearing. I comuted on a daily basis on 315's and have to say never once did they let me down.
So think it should be hats of to the PEP derivatives and lets hope one is preserved for future generations

Out of idle curiosity, why is it the the 314s received such limited (visible) refurbishment during their service? The 313s and 315s all seem to feature PIS, LED head/tail lamps, door operation buttons etc by now, (never mind the majority of the 314s still being in SPT colours!). Was it just never deemed economically viable for the 314s?

The ex-507 trailer of 314203 was temporarily fitted out as a mock-up of a proposed refurbishment to the fleet in the 90s, but for some reason this idea was abandoned and the trailer was partially restored to the same standard as the rest of the units, though a few differences remain present to this day.

I think the reason why an extensive refurbishment to the standard of the 313/315 refurb you highlighted was never carried out was because SPT/ScotRail were always intending on withdrawing the units in the near-future. Originally the date for their withdrawal was set for 2009, then 2015, 2018 and now 2019. Perhaps things would have been different had it been known that the units would still be in service as late as 2018.

What's the likelihood of 314s hanging on in service to May 2019, when I have a trip to Glasgow planned? Would be nice to get another journey on one before they finally go.

If not, at least I got a couple back in June 2017. :)

I would say quite safe for May, though presumably there will be a good fewer units in service than at present. I think there might even be a few left until this coming December at a push.

I would doubt that. All the 385s will be in service long before December which, as I understand it, is what allows the 314s to go.

If I was to put a bet on it, the 365 contract will be extended to cover some Dunblane/Alloa

With 3 x 380 on Falkirk G services, plus 385 units, i think the next load of 385 deliveries will allow the 380s back west, that would leave 6 diagrams left. I think they will go by May this yr latest

Wonder if the 365s will do services other than Edinburgh to Dunblane?
Are 385s going to operate any Southside Electrics?

385s are taking over Cathcart Circle, Newton and Neilston from the 314s and presumably the 320/318 amd 380 diagrams as well.

I thought that the 385s already appeared on Neilston services.

Interesting, I haven't seen any yet.

Just 380s on the Neilstons with any remaining 314s . Did see a 320 back in september .
I thought the intial plan was 385s on the these 3 services but now 318s/320s and 380s . 385s Lanark services .

I saw a 318 yesterday afternoon and did think the 385s had yet to make an appearance, soon perhaps.
