That'll be the penultimate Scotrail 3-car unit then, 385045. Assuming it's a complete unit, then the unidentified vehicle will be 442045, though I have no idea why it might have turned up at completely the wrong end of the UK!

Kasado according to the paper in the window.

Bad pics to follow once I get home.
Ah, that would make more sense if it's come in from the continent. I didn't realise there were any 385s not being assembled at Newton Aycliffe. Good spot.

I'm certain that 045 was being fitted out in Italy. The info is buried somewhere in the 385 thread.

Sorry they're not the best pictures, my previous phone would have done a better job.

The on-the-road order was 442045, 441045 followed by 444045.

No, the garbage is staying firmly up north, fortunately. A poor imitation of the Class 380 indeed.

Surprised they're using vehicle numbers that apparently might clash with existing MU numbers.

The 4440XX up to 045 definitely do clash with MU numbers (there being 45 class 444 units with SWR numbered 444001 - 444045)

I stand corrected. I just knew that they didn't come out of Newton Aycliffe. Presumably they must have been landed somewhere on the other side of the Channel.

Just passed through Ashford en route to Canterbury and wondered why that was sitting in the train washer part of the yard

Arrived from southampton by ship, taken to the nearest Hitachi depot with test track (Ashford) and to be taken up to scotland by rail next week.

I see that all 35 delivered so far are now in service. I'd expect deliveries to restart from Newton Aycliffe next week and there are two Japanese built 3 carriage sets to come from Ashford.

The 442s are all in the 4xx range

They were known in the SWT days as 2401-2424

All good then.

Be interesting to see if any of the 444s get renumbered (throw another 4 in there, it'll be fine. Plus that means 444 444 will exist ;) ).

That doesn't make sense. Did you mean to type "arrived in Southampton by ship"?
