I have one question about the depots where they will be allocated to now I am aware that a £Million pound depot for them has been built at Millerhill however what is confusing is simple...

Is it called Millerhill TMD as Wikipedia states used to be there labelled as 64A (1 April 1967 - 5 May 1973) then MV (1973 -) and now MH?

Or do is it just called Millerhill Marshalling Yard?

Also what is the depot code for the facility stabling these Class 385s? Are MV and MH two different sites?

Wikipedia isn't the most reliable of sources but when you have limited sources it's better then nothing so anyone know for sure what it will be called as it's meant to be open now as of Autumn 2017 - I've not been in Scotland for 5 or so years so tad behind the times.

The EMU depot at Millerhill was a completely new build on the site of the old reclamation sidings. The 385s show as being allocated to Craigentinny on railway systems and currently receive all their maintenance there.

Pardon the silly question but if they're allocated to Craigentinny and currently are maintained there, what was the point of the EMU depot at Millerhill?

Unless it's they're going to be allocated to it if Hitachi take over Craigentinny for the sole maintenance of their trains?

Any idea what the two letter code is for Millerhill if one exists on the railway systems?

At the depot, trains will be washed, cleaned, toilet tanks emptied, sanders filled, and screen washers topped up and there are also facilities for maintenance staff who may be called to the depot to repair minor faults.

Millerhill is for stabling and cleaning; there isn't enough room at Craigentinny to meet ScotRail's requirements. I expect maintenance will transfer to Shields once the initial contract with Hitachi ends.

The EMU depot doesn't have a two letter code. The STANNOX is 04237, the TIPLOC is MLRHEY and the STANME is MHILLEMUY.

Ahh now I understand, how long has Millerhill been used to stable Scotrail trains?

As I understand, Hitatchi have the maintenance contract for the whole 25 years lease on the 385s. Shields will have some spare capacity once the 314s all go, but not much. I imagine there will be a Hitachi fitter based at Glasgow Central once the 385s start operating there.

Millerhill was initially also going to be a ScotRail traincrew depot for the new 385s, but costs and staffing issues ended that idea back in 2016.

I have been caught out in the past by the fact that there is no 1945. I would say adding one is a significant first step. Adding a 2015 would probably prove immediately popular also.

And what would you know... as if by magic, from 20th May 2019 a 1945 E&G service is added to the schedule in both directions, calling at all of Croy, Falkirk High, Polmont and Linlithgow.

Excellent! If only I could always get a service enhancement that easily! :D

Come back and say you want a 20 minute frequency between Glasgow Central and Neilston.

EDIT: Just to say that it's not the improvement you think it is - the 30 minute evening frequency is just changed to be XX:15 and XX:45 from each termini. Half hourly from 19:45 each night.

Does that mean that the last trains will be fifteen minutes later?

Is E-G all electric now?

Yes, has been for some time now. There were a couple of 170 substitutions a few months ago when there were brake issues on the 385s, but it was 365s/380s/385s in the summer, and since the timetable change it's been all-385.

It’s still a mix between electrics and diesels right now

Hearing reports that one carriage of 385045 has been taken by road to Ashford. Anyone got any idea why?

Also
Not one carriage, all three.

Simon
Witness to the delivery

Also 385046 is arriving at Ashford. Reports of lorry transporting it being in collision with a car, and then the car driver attacking the lorry with a baseball bat!!!
