Very nice photos TimboM.

On a slightly different note, does anyone know if 92040 is still visible or has it been moved inside?

Thanks! Yes - 040 was still there and clearly visible yesterday. It's on stands - and as 021 has taken 045's long-term spot next to 046 (in the "car park" hidden by the lorry trailers) - I suspect 040 will stay where it is for a good while yet.

Photo (from Sat, but hadn't moved when I was there yesterday): https://flic.kr/p/2cvasJw

Thanks for the info. I might just have a drive up there over the Christmas break.

92043 now at Loughborough for Dellner mods to my understanding.

As a side note, some (including myself) may be interested to know that another forum shows an image of 92045 alongside 92040 outside at Brush Loughborough - assuming 040 hasn't moved from where I saw it just before Christmas, both should be visible across the field from Meadow Lane.

Yep - waved her off from Crewe...! (02/01/2019) Last 92 to receive the CAF mods based on current plans.

Spot on - 045 has now joined 040 (and the Flex unit).
The photo that was on the "other" forum is by Jack Taylor and can be seen here on Flickr: https://flic.kr/p/2dXS8F3

Annotated aerial view of locations here for anyone interested: https://www.flickr.com/gp/153305438@N06/B8WJrG

045 and 040 are now where it says "040" and the flag for "92046" is where 046 and 021 are now sat (021 is in the position 045 occupied for many years alongside 046). The spot 046 and 021 are in is usually obscured by lorry trailers and the locos are not usually visible from the fields.

OK, I realise it isn't a 92, but can anyone advise why 87002 went to Doncaster today?

Repairs at Barrow Hill; a 66 would have dragged it for the onward journey.
Thanks - presumably that was the 0Z88 working then.

I hadn't looked closely enough at Real Time Trains so missed the chance of a phot at Stevenage.

I realise this is the wrong page but I can't find the general sleeper one, there is engineering work on the Ft William line showing from the 5th October for 9 days for work on the Auch viaduct, would anyone be able to confirm the beds are going into Oban that week and also if the Sunday (6th) evening trains are up the ECML? Thanks, I've checked the sleeper page and they are showing FT William as stated destination but I'm not sure if that includes the bus transfer

I've been told they're running into Oban, but can't answer the other questions.

I just don't get the point in adding Dellner couplings to the Class 92's. If all stock used traditional chain and buffer then we wouldn't have to change couplings on everything and all stock would be compatible.

Could it be maybe that the Mk5 coaching stock has Dellner couplings hence why the Class 92s are getting them too???

I take it you're not the one who currently has to mess about with the chain coupling, on the ground, at silly o'clock in the morning, in Scotland?

Unfortunately the useful and interesting sleeper thread was closed. This is just the sort of question that could have been asked there. I'd be interested in sleeper to Oban too if it runs that way again this year.

They are still going to have to mess about, on the ground, at silly o'clock in the morning, in Scotland, to connect up ETH jumpers and comms links between loco and stock. I'm really not understanding the benefit.

Are the couplers heated? If not, what are the odds on ice getting into them and stopping the job?

Because the time-sensitive joining and separating takes place in the middle of the night in Scotland?

And Edinburgh.

The only solution was an autocoupler as work at height regulation precludes the use of shackle on new stock where regular coupling and coupling is undertaken.

The entire operation is standardised. Amazing.

What does work at height regulations have to do with it, you are stood on the ground.
